Really informative! Smaller differences than I expected, but the Fusion still seems worth the extra $.

On the last climb, it looked like the Fusion had the advantage because of the FOC motor controller. You could see how it adjusted the torque to find forward movement, and allowed you to maintain a consistent, low throttle level.

I think Redcat should do another Fusion run in time for Christmas, where they work out a deal to put name-brand dual stage foams and REALLY sticky tires on a new, limited-edition version for a relatively small premium, maybe another $75? It would sell out in minutes, but it sure would put them on the map as a company to watch!

So cool redcat gave us these options ❤

Great video! Helps me as I am looking to get into my first RC. What tires would you recommend for the ascent?

I built one for my wife. I did the dsm chassis and sliders, fusion se 1800 and some 2.2 wheels with proline flatiron and that thing will follow my vrd and my scx pro all day long.

...because now it costs the same as a vrd, Einstein😅

I don’t know how you did to design these crawl paths (I don’t know how to call that) but you did suchl lol a corazy good job… The paths are so technical, diversified and so interesting to atch, this is REALLY cool 👍

I think the stock foams killed you on the crack o doom. Very interesting comparison. It would be awesome to get a stock ecto in future comparison lineups.

Nice video! I’ve heard the Fusion tire compound is softer too. What do you think?

I wonder if the tires on the fusion are slightly different compound than the regular ascent.

I dont thjnk id ever buy one of these.. the price is really not worth what you are getting.. the fusion is alright but still leaves alot to be desired, and i feel like grippier tires will only make it tip worse..

I still find these are too expensive. there's too many little things and issues with them out of the box that doesn't make them a good value; wheels/tires, links are weak, panhard bar on wrong side and causes bump steer, and links aren't proper geometry. the fusion motor can't be tuned. certainly not an entry level rig for anyone new coming into the hobby. and we should not accept these prices; they are just going higher because we in the hobby are accepting it.
@steverolfeca5 күн бұрын
Maybe if you’re an older, competitive user with decades of experience. But price out what relative newbs like me waste on upgrades to cheaper models to get up to this level of competence! Strategically-placed alloy, brass, carbon, and steel parts including frame rails, links, shafts, etc. Two stages of underdrive on metal gears in the box, oil shocks with internal AND external springs, near-perfect waterproofing, a strong steering servo (are you listening, Axial?), divorced transfer case for easy service, portals, not just any brushless motor but a mid-grade Fusion electronics package, a lowered motor and transmission setup… You could end up spending double the $399 asking price on lots of other rigs, and still not be able to keep up.
