🐢 FACTS 🐢 Koa was taken from the wild in 1985 🐢He is in a 75 gallon tetrafauna reptile tank 🐢 it took me about an hour to clean the tank 🐢 koa is still a grumpy boy 💕 🐢 YES koas nails are long, his vet & I have trimmed them as much as we can. After 30 years of neglect they were longer than this when I got him, they can only be trimmed a little at a time. Thank!!! Thanks for watching! Subscribe!

So so so cute!! My box turtle is around 20 years old! And we have him in a 100-150 gallon tank and I think it’s still way to small so I have a HUGE cage coming in in a couple days can’t wait to get it set up

I have a year old baby turtle named Timmy. Hes a painted turtle that we saved from a trash filled pond. He also had a brother named Runt but he got a disease and we couldnt help him. But Timmy is still happy and healthy. Turtles are my favorite animal. GO TURTLES

Love your channel. I subscribed. One thing I want to add is fruits definitely she be at a minimum, same with proteins in their adults years. Lol and yours is 37, I can’t believe it. I currently have 6 baby box turtles... someone I knows dad, took the eggs from the wild. Had no idea of how to care for them. I picked them up in their “ enclosure “ which was a tiny kids shoe box, with some dirt in it. All of them completely in the dark. They’re thriving so good now in the 3 months I’ve owned them. I’m hoping I can release eventually, but we will have to see how they adapt and if any have any deficiencies

What size tank is that? Do you have a heating pad and thermometer? Do you trim his beak and claws yourself or take him to a vet? I have a box turtle like him and his beak and claws are overgrown and the vet wants to sedate him in order to trim him up. Thanks! Sorry for all the questions 😩

The box turtle I currently have was taken from the wild from a relative of mines and he was seriously abused!! My relatives son would down right torture the poor thing! So my aunt took him but she didn't want to permanently keep him so I offered to take him! I have dubbed him Timothy!! He's a little bit larger than a half dollar and oh sooooo sociable!

I still think you should be using more than just water to clean. I use F10SC Veterinary Disinfectant (diluted of course) to clean out all my cages. Because so many reptiles can carry salmonella, I think it's especially important. I don't mean this as a hate comment. I love your channel. You're one of my favorite KZbinrs, and you take great care of your pets.

I use chlorhexidine to disinfect ( veterinarian's also use this)it kills bacteria which water can not do. Bacteria left inside the enclosure can make the animal sick and cause illnesses like respiratory infection.

lilly may Hi sorry this is a bit late but honestly the water is best in the middle so it doesn’t drop to low but still fine as your tortoise may use it to cool down abit so I recommend in the middle of the heat end and the cool end up

I found a baby turtle box turtle hiding in a pile of rocks and someone my friend goes to church with told us that there are snakes everywhere back by the creek where I was so we took it to her house and named it terry until we found out that it was a girl so we named it Tina and now I have her in a container without a lid at my house but I’m worried she won’t live long since I took her from the wild

40 gallon or 36x18x12 or even 18.. my four and a half year old box turtle in my son's three year old box turtle are in 40 gallon tanks which is equivalent to 36x18 by 12 or even by 18 but I have the 12 when they get older I will be putting them in a bigger tank right now they are still small
