Lori’s Hartland poor koa, you can tell he was neglected. Mine live in my fenced backyard where they can eat all the berries, worms and insects they want, plus I still give them food. They only get natural sunlight. My fence is also buried two feet in the ground and set in concrete.

I love how you took him in. I ended up doing the same thing myself we have a huge tank with same bedding but I did buy the calcium sand as well and I do put like a little salt shaker of calcium powder on his food. Buddy my turtle is spoiled. Nails clipped when needed, gets his calcium lotion rub ever so often. His walk is going outside on the lawn. Yes, he is spoiled and boy does he love his worms and strawberry plants.

Oh my gosh, it looks like he is smiling! Koa is lucky to have such good pet parents to take care of him! I just got my tortoises today (after decades of research and wanting them), and I love them and look forward to sharing the rest of my life with them, it is so true that so many people don't realize how long turtles and tortoises live and how large they can get, how specific their needs are. I definitely want a pet room tour!

I went to Pet Supplies Plus to get hamster bedding and food (I accidentally got Guinea pig food and now have to return it) and I went towards my dad who was in the reptile Isle and he was getting a turtle food-water dish as well as baby turtle formula. I asked him what he was doing and he just said "were getting a turtle." Lol, I told him we needed eco earth and that I'd been watching your videos so I know. 😂❤

sugargliderlove123 ... absolutely cover the sides (not paint) With turtles and tortoises this is a must with tanks, but Koa was in a 10 gallon for 30 years so, he actually doesn't pace the glass whatsoever so it doesn't bother him at all, but I do have a pc of cloth on standby to put across if it ever happened- but he is totally fine with the glass - but he's a special case! 💗🐢

Hi I really need help with my ornate box turtle, she is not eating and we have had her for a while, we have searched everything and she still won't budge, she hasn't eaten in the slightest bit, we soak her and do everything possible to keep her alive. I just found to baby snapping turtles and a baby box turtle with in a week, I'm borderline wanting to keep them and wanting to let them go. I really love turtles and don't want them getting hurt or killed by letting them go but I can't seem to find the right stuff to make them a proper setup. I want to put them in my garage but winter is coming up and don't want them freezing. Any suggestions on a good setup?

Let them go, under no circumstances should you keep wild animals, they will outlive you & your love of them will likely fade in your old age, let them be free. It is also illegal.

Emilija's World ... 40gallon breeder, but he prepared to seperate them and have a spare tank ready if they start to fight. I suggest housing seperate but that's just Bc I wouldn't wanna worry about getting a second tank just in case... 💗🐹

Hii so I have a 4 month old box turtle who is still the same size as when I got her :( I was told she may not be getting enough uvb exposure so I raised up her bedding. The only problem is the heat source I use is meant to stick to the bottom of the tank. So now I’m trying to find suitable heat sources for her. Any recommendations???

Terrell Mcgee ... If he is wild caught (I am assuming) he is supposed to be hibernating right now. I’m assuming you don’t force hibernate him? It isn’t natural for them to not hibernate during the winter so it makes them slow down in winter. Also Box turtles are very sensitive when taken from the wild and they are used to walking many miles and eating when they want to and hunt when they are ready. Being placed in a enclosure indoors isn’t natural for them so most of the time it makes them picky eaters, sometimes not eating at all. If you recently caught your turtle from the wild I suggest when spring comes letting the turtle go back outside near where you found it. So the turtle doesn’t become unhealthy from being taken from its natural environment, if you got the turtle from a breeder then it should be eating normally for you, but they still need to hibernate, if kept outdoors year round they can be built up to hibernate naturally. You will need to research this. If indoors and not hibernating (its very dangerous to force hibernate) more than likely your turtle isn’t going to want to eat Bc it’s not supposed to be awake.
