It's cool, it makes a lot of sense, but hard to see how much effort it takes after it's unfolded to make it is what you see now. I have some constructive criticism, hopefully, it will be received well. There is a mistake on the Kitchen layout, which is to put the Stove directly beside the fridge. The Stove should be on the other side, centred, beside the dishwasher. If there is not enough space, then the Dishwasher should be beside the Fridge and the Stove on the side where the dishwasher currently is.

My stove is on the the same side of my kitchen as the refrigerator. Easier to grab food items while cooking. Sink with garbage disposal is next to the sink. Both have water go too and from the dishwasher. So the dishwasher water goes down the sane drain. 🤔. It was built in 1979. From the sink as I wash most of my dishes manually go into the dishwasher to dry if not to get washed. I have to understand your comment again. Dishwasher near sink. Fridge near stove. It's where to put it. Tie it to utilities especially sewage. It's a great little studio home. It's really an Additional dwelling unit. Meant to be put in an existing yard or property that already has power and, water and especially sewage. That's why it's called an ADU. Additional Dwelling Unit. Solely meant to be a part of a main house. Not Physically but on the property.
@margretblair53892 жыл бұрын
Did you look into the additional costs even if you already have the ability to tie it to a main house and systems. Also the foundation. It has it's own floor and is solid on a foundation. Sewage is going to be my main problem. I'm on the list to get one. Delivery is also a major consideration.
@margretblair53892 жыл бұрын
You can move right in after all the permits are pulled, consult about the water to the home. Hot and cold I think plus sewage too hook up upon arrival including electricity from the house or source. @udmbfckx2916 Жыл бұрын
Being nitpicky but I believe this would make it a bit more practical. 1) Lots of people do not use a dishwasher anymore....Why not put a slightly smaller, lower profile, ll-in-one washer/dryer in that space? There are some units that will fit under the 36-inch standard counter. This way, the machine is out of the way and you may be able to place a cabinet in that space for more storage. 2) I would place a much larger TV in the removable swivel post above the wardrobe/cabinet/room divider (as seen in more recent videos) with an opposing, very large mirror. This would add to the cost and complexity of adding a post that could handle somewhere up to 200 lbs but it would functional since it would have a TV and mirror being used to give some level of privacy in the bedroom. 3) Smaller couples or single people might make do with a full size bed instead of a queen, allowing them to place a (removable) thin-divider wall along the door entrance, giving additional privacy. Smaller night stands might even fit. 4) If you add 2 and 3 above, then you can do a thin (removable for transport) drop-down wall from ceiling that would end right above the swivel TV, giving the bedroom a full enclosure. 5) Should the mini-split AC be in the kitchen? Recirculating the smell of the kitchen? 6) Some people might prefer frosted doors for the shower stall for privacy when opening and closing the bathroom door. If you are going off the grid.... 1) You would need more efficient appliances and/or conside gas appliances. 2) Septic tank and/or composting toilet. 3) Pitched gable roof in snowy areas, preferably metal and preferably one that can be disassembled easy for transport. Maybe use it to catch water on a gutter system around the house (also for warmer, wetter climates too?) connected to larger 55 gallon tanks at the ceiling level in the back of the house and partially using gravity as water pressure. You could use this roof for storage too by placing a door on one of the gable ends.

Thank you for this walk-through tour! Been wanting to get a closer look at the construction/materials/layout. Are there units available for the public to actually tour and get a feel for it in RL? I think I might be willing to travel across the country to do that, before making up my mind about whether to put my house-dollars on this thing. The more I look at the Casita, the more I see potential problems with using it as a permanent living space. I don’t want a lot of space, and I don’t own a lot of stuff, but even I can’t call that cabinet between the bedroom and living room “plenty of storage”. I’m still extremely interested in Boxabl as a potential solution to my “where am I going to live” dilemma. However, I think I really would need to order two units, and one of them isn’t being made yet.

OR i would use that outside wall 4 a small built in closet with drop down desk or even be able to incorporate my all in one into that desk, or according to dimensions switch it around for the best fit. where your sofa is, i would arrange my wicker loveseat and wicker chairs and wicker bench.,. above the w/d there would be a half width shelved and closeable cabinet-altho i would put the w/d in the bathroom-like an l shaped bathroom, configure the wall change with linen closet above,. probably would sound clearer to you if i drew it on paper

@@Swan5812-y6q yes, it is, according to various news reports and the company’s own press releases about it’s waitlist and production capacity. They also say they want to add more factories, really upscale production, however, that is just a twinkle in their eye, at this point. Currently, they’re selling public stock options to fund factory #2, so…#s 3-who knows, are a long way off for those of us who need a house now. There’s also apparently an option to put some money upfront and get bumped way up the waitlist. If I had more than one (literal) nest egg to spend, and could afford some risk, I would definitely do that. As it is, I expect that will mostly be people who genuinely are buying this as an investment/ADU, have the available funds, some land to put it on, and are NOT buying it as their one chance at a primary residence.

Due to unprecedented inflation and a lengthy waiting list for Casitas, they are unable to offer fixed pricing on the website. For instance, if you reserve a Casita now and it takes a year to arrive, we do not know how the cost of raw materials will vary in a year, therefore we cannot lock in a price. Even in the current inflationary climate, we continue to believe that Boxabl is the most cost-effective housing solution ever.

Is the tankless water heater gas or electric or either?
@DaveCooperLive3 жыл бұрын
As of right now there is no standard spec for the water heater. It could be gas or electric according to the company.

what about getting water and power? what about letting water out of the house (shower,toilette)?
@DaveCooperLive2 жыл бұрын
Currently, you need to connect to well, septic or city water / sewer. Otherwise you could collect rain water and use a compost toilette/ solar if your looking to be off grid.

These are *excellent* houses for the price. I'm still wondering how they can get a refrigerator that's bigger than the house in the house.

@DaveCooperLive2 жыл бұрын
It would have to meet MN building code to be delivered and setup. -40 below is extreme cold..

Great idea. Very nice. The only things I would change is the position of the fridge near the oven. I,'d also change the sofa. How about the electric system, is it suitable for Europe?
@DaveCooperLive Жыл бұрын
Hi Josephine! For Europe not sure. But plumbing, electricity, and HVAC systems are factory-installed in your Boxabl. On-site attachment of utilities to the outer corner of the Boxabl.

This is the video I've been waiting for. Thanks for creating it since I know it requires much more than just a camera and 19 min., 59 sec. of your time. I am going to reserve today (the $1,200 option for early access and the $1,000 discount). Since your video was so helpful, I would be happy to order it via an affiliate link if you have one - if not, through any other party you might suggest. Please advise! Thanks again, Dave and Jennifer!

@@DaveCooperLive Just a suggestion...if you could make the wardrobe taller so to be able to fit longer dresses and coats without having to fold them up. It needs more storage......maybe a cabinet that surrounds the washer/dryer?

Depending on where you live its the expected amount of snow one may have sitting on the roof which adds to the weight load of the roofing structure.

Thanks for the feedback… it is a big mountain to climb. Someone will eventually do it and their builds / kit of parts is becoming very simplified from what I could see… Automation is coming and if they can dial that in and ramp up production it could make all the difference… we’ll see what happens
