Dont even try if you're not 100.0% serious about it and ready to sacrifice 6-8 hours each day for training with rest days! Do that for 10 years straight and you'll be champion ;) but the problem is most people give up even after 2 months some after 6 months some after 1 year. And 99% of all people who start boxing wont ever achieve greatness in the sport because they dont give it all they have doing crazy cardio exercises daily like sprints with a mask, uphill fast running, sparring etc...

I don't think it's only age. Almost all those fighters already had what it takes physicaly and mentaly by overcoming extremely tough life conditions in their homes, neihgbourhood and workplace.. some of them have even done time in prison. So boxing was their way out of difficult conditions, and may be the only way because the didn't have good education or the means to start up a business. They were used to different sorts of physical, mental and emotional punishment, that's why they hungry enough to risk it all. Boxing is not a game, it's a war.. So If you didn't go through all that, even young age wouldn't help you.

Starting at 23 is late compared to others but it’s still not TOO late. Too late would be like late twenties, early thirties, because then it would be diminishing returns if your goal was to fight. But someone starting at like 21 is an absolute fine age if you dedicate yourself. Champs and world class fighters aren’t determined by the age in which they started but the work that they put in
