Interesting, I intend to get into boxing myself and all pro and amateur boxers have told me that maintaiming stamina over 8 to 12 rounds is more important than anything else. I've even heard a wrestler tell me that having stamina for boxing was much harder than wrestling.

@@Jordancheddar I actually think wrestling would be easier because it's more of a natural sport, you can always go all out when wrestling against someone. So bad to suggest to do abs more than once a day, or even once a day tbh… unless your training volume is really low, it’s just not sensible in the slightest and will just fatigue you. Every muscle group should be trained every other day so they can rest…
@QuiteStupid733 жыл бұрын
@@tomhardy116 abs recover faster than any other muscle group, so it’s fine to do it every day. Definitely not the other muscles tho
@tomhardy1163 жыл бұрын
@@QuiteStupid73 Yeah they are 💯 but if your intensity is high, then it’s not sensible irrespective of how quickly abs recover. The same premise with training every day, you’re really supposed to have at least 1 rest day a week so your body can rest - saying to new boxers that training abs every day is good is misleading, because it isn’t. If you train them every other day then you can maintain that for a substantial time but if you train them every single day, you’re likely to need 1-2 rest days a week because that’s simply too much volume to allow for recovery. Although like I said it’s dependant on intensity. I do callisthenics as well as boxing and if I do a session with a lot of dragon flags and human flags I need a days rest after.

I just started boxing for the first time last week. After one class here’s what i noticed. First off, I used to run and have insane cardio and stamina. It’s been a couple years since then but the cardio has stuck with me quite a bit as I work in the trades and am constantly pushing myself. Dude is most certainly totally correct about not even trying to start throwing until you get to the gym. Seems like it was a good way to develop bad habits and strain on your wrists. After my first class i gotta say, my arms were BEAT. The short head of my biceps are still sore as hell and last time i trainer was 4 days ago. My chest (abs/serratus) are also still a little achy but better than my arms. This guy is definitely right about making sure you’re at least capable of lasting the whole session in terms of your overall stamina and i could see how doing abs/running 3mi ever other day would be beneficial, but there are also BIG fellas in the gym that ik would be dead after a mile. I guess it depends on your own weight/physique but don’t let all that discourage you from starting. Even if you can’t run 3 miles boxing will definitely help you get some cardio back, but if you wanna be the best you’re gonna have to put in that work on your own time without a trainer. I don’t know a damn thing about boxing besides my few classes but as a beginner it’s tough, but not impossible. I put it off for so long thinking i wouldn’t be ready and then i just did it. Best decision i’ve made in ages.

Before i started muay thai in a gym i was training myself in muay thai for a year with a heavy bag at home. My technique came natural to me. I was watching youtube videos about form and technique and i was really working on it everyday in the mirror so you van buy a heavybag just know you gotta pay attention to every little detail. Starting in the gym would be easyer because your trainer watches you. But you really can come far at home but you just gotta put more work and time in it.

I think you should train in a gym and have a heavy bag at home so you can train when you want how you want and you probably will try more new things when you are training alone at home

@@mazehaze. yup. i also learned proper punching technique just from watching videos online. I think you're correct that its perfectly fine to and id say even good to work on your own as long as you are paying attention to proper technique and form. If you're just throwing punches wildly though with no form or feedback, then it is very bad.

Also check it out thoroughly. I've been to quite a few. Get a feel for the type of people there. Try out a class or two. Or even just sit and watch. I made the mistake of joining one and found students and instructors were just arrogant, and rude. If you get a welcoming feel then its a good one. It is big commitment money wise, last thing you want to be paying for is to be around jerks.

Very very good advice. I've been kickboxing for 8 years, boxing for 3 and have seen literally 100 people come and go. One more tip I would add is it's good to take time away from training also. Many times I've seen guys train 5 days a week because they are so into it when they first start and then get burned out and you never see them again. Jumping rope is a big one. It's something that a lot of guys get embarrassed about. When you have your first class and everyone around you is jumping rope effortlessly. If it's something new to you it could put you off. It's better to get used to it outside of training. Most importantly you need to simply show up. Even if you can't jump rope, can't run a mile. Show up and if it's something you fall in love with you will very quickly improve your fitness.

Abs so you can take body shots and move quickly with slips/rolls Jumprope has become a hobby of mine since I started as well (took a couple months to get good) and i can hang w the best of them. One of my friends wanted a boxing partner, so i stepped up and joined him, remember this was my first time trying boxing training in my life, and i stopped with badminton like 2 years before that. So when i walked in i was in a squard position in like 5 min, and ran around the room ike 50 time with medium speed and arm movement at det same time. I kid you not, i didnt even got trough the warmup bit, and was almost about to thow up, and the trainer said that it happends to almost all new begginers in this club. I think it was just my boddy getting a shock after being forced to move so much after all that time, but still do what this Pro sais, u gonna need it.

I boxed for 10 years. I like to consider myself pretty decent at the sport or at least was. lol Anyways you want to know the exact thing you need to do before you go to a boxing gym? Come with all the right gear. Handwraps, mouthpiece, and gloves. Once you get ready to spar you'll need you Headgear, sparring gloves, and a cup. Never leave to the gym without those. You will piss coaches off if you come unprepared. They'll think you're not serious about it. As far as getting in shape. Trust me you'll learn and if you have a good coach he'll tell you what you need to do. I had no fighting experience going in and I was overweight. At my peak I would run 8 miles a day, I was able to spar for 12 rounds, I had about 50 amateur fights and 11 losses. Something like that. It's a great sport it teaches you life lessons. If you want something bad enough you'll get it if you put in the work. Anyways I hope my advice can offer some help. Also here's one more tip my coach always used to tell me. "Never fight ugly people, they got nothing to lose." 😂 Wish y'all the best of luck!
