So if im right in relaying what you were saying about the left hook all the kinetic power for the left hook should just be coming from the the hip to the knuckle and not the ball of the foot to the knuckle? Doesnt shortening the chain this way make the punch less effective? I can still get knockout power pivoting on the foot with the left hook especially because im 5’10 with long legs and a wider stance. when i sit down on the left hook im working inside range, probably still pivot for a liver shot after shifting to the outside of a jab. Edit: grammar
@coachKeithKeppner4 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment! I am absolutely for twisting the lead foot with the lead hook, but I'm not big on over slipping to the lead side to set it up! At the end of the day you can have power as long as your timing of the, the am of the punch and you have some bodyweight behind it

@coachKeithKeppner3 ай бұрын
You mean using your hands and shoulders? Because it's even less committal, opens up other counters and is frankly easier against certain guys then trying to move your head in every head shot. It's all trade offs! Great question!!!
@jdconstruction456312 күн бұрын
I think that theory is true about adding more power to your punches with your head down, Just simply try throwing a hook with your head and neck up lol it feels weird and with no power, we are designed to be facing our target while hitting it for maximum power

I heard its best to not wait for the punch to slip but instead keep in motion with head movement which is easier but how to stop accidentally moving into a punch?
@coachKeithKeppner4 ай бұрын
That's partially true. It is good to anticipate counters and move the head often and then it is important to move the head with punches and at certain times as well. That would be a good one for me to expand on!
@cyclingfan56833 ай бұрын
That’s exactly what helps me, i keep my head moving all the time. For amateur fights its not that hard to move for 3rd, pro is different story.
