Shin Splints can also be caused by running in the wrong shoes. I see a lot of boxers running in their boxing boots, basketball shoes or just bad running shoes all together. I have my son run in really good running shoes for his runs or when he’s conditioning/jumping rope and he wears his boxing shoes when he’s in the ring or working on drills like footwork/shadow boxing etc. I learned in highschool running track that the right shoes for the specific sport is everything.

I've got a topic idea you might like to do a segment on. I heard about prince naseem hurting his hands hitting too hard and thats a concern but I hurt my wrist jarring it hitting a heavy bag without wraps at a strange angle years ago and knew not to do that again but years later after learning to wrap my hands I started going at the heavy bag hard and jarred something in my elbow from not slowly conditioning myself for that kind of impacts effects and had to take a long break. If there's anything you could relate to us on tips to keep our joints safe wether to wrap our elbows or ease into training slowly til we get toughened up or whatnot it'd be appreciated to see it addressed because I know alot of gung ho weekend warrior fly by night wannabe fighters out there could stop from getting injured and taken away from the craft we love indulging in. Thanks for everything you do. Lovin the series

Yeah look at 43:07 and in that section you see an example of a jab step at one point where you don't bring the rear leg. "Dempsey's falling is step" not a term commonly used to refer to the move and it isn't something Dempsey invented just something he talked about. Thanks for the comment!

Golden advice and information coach, thank you for all of the content that you've been putting out lately. Shadow boxing has been king for me to learn footwork. If you release more content on defense in the future, can you go over elbow blocking/parrying? Everyone knows that it's illegal to throw an elbow to strike, but throwing an elbow to block/parry punches isn't and is not often taught in boxing defense. Some people even call it dirty boxing. It'd be great to hear your experiences with this and the nuances you may have picked up on this type of defense

why in your opinion do basketball players using a very deep stance, in order to optimize their movement (and they need to cover all moving directions and pivots) and why is there no analogy to boxing footwork?
@coachKeithKeppner4 ай бұрын
I do use certain concepts of basketball movement to describe boxing movement in some ways and find BB players transition well. I'm having trouble understanding your question exactly. Can you elaborate? Do you mean why do BB players have a deep knee bend when close to another player and boxers don't? Let me know! Thanks!
@bdlkinetics4 ай бұрын
@@coachKeithKeppner thanks for the reply!! my question is why it / the lower stance works perfect for moving in every direction in basketball (also and espeacially lateral movement and pivots), but you said something about"getting stuck on the line" when applied in boxing? greetings from germany
@coachKeithKeppner4 ай бұрын
@@bdlkinetics great question, so lower stance is great for basketball because you want to make your side wider laterally to defend etc. I'm boxing 1. Your target is the body so you have to be sided up vs square 2. Being that low does make it harder to land some punches on your opponent 3. That low for a whole 3 min straight is very very hard to do 4. In amateurs you can't put your head below the belt line of your opponent so if you are that low and then tried to go under a shot I feel you would do that. Think about it a basketball stance in close is made for quick lateral movement and to stop a ball from getting past. A boxing stance has to check way more boxes. Let me know if that all makes sense. I am not knowledgeable on basketball what so ever so anything pertaining to specific basketball stance I could be misrepresenting!
