I agree with Wouter - I often got beaten in simple sparring because I couldn't take a beating, not only due to my physical fitness. There is a relentlessness that a real fighter has which can wear people down and break them. Watch Sapp vs Minotauro - gives "Never give up" an entirely new meaning. Shogun vs. Rampage is another example of a strong dude mentally breaking a stronger dude. Can only imagine what was going on in Rampage's mind..."Why the ... am I doing this?!?!" Whoever can overcome that "moment" has my utmost respect!

I think what I'm looking forward to most is how Jacob improves as an Athlete. Like Mike said, he's here to improve on the athlete no matter what the sport is. I'm not expecting an return to crossfit, but I'd love to see how Jacob compares (as a top 10 games athlete) before and after this fight/training goes down. Somewhat like after Froning left the individuals, he's still 100% competitive but he doesn't compete because he has other agenda's. I'd love to see Jacob do the same thing, Compete in the open, individual or just training like what he's done with Olivia, and see how this experience has helped his personal training and coaching skills.

I wish you the best. This will be a fun fight to watch kind of. I’ve always rooted for both of you doing CrossFit but this. It’s like Ali vs Tyson to me. I want both to win.

I hope you are live sparring with more than one opponent as punching a bag does not cut it. Keep it simple as a left jab and an opportunist right at this level will probably be OK. Keep your gloves up as they can be used for protection . I started boxing late at 18 and ended up fighting most of the British army as they also come to the sport late. It is intimidating stepping into the ring so think how it will go and also hearing people cheer as you get hit is a strange feeling. Nothing will prepare you for it other then doing it. Best of luck!

Great series to follow. So Bridges is almost definitely an inside fighter and as we know your reach isn't the longest, so I'll be interested to see strategies from your coach as to how to develop your style to over come this. HALL for the big win!

I agree with Don. Don't show everything. Josh's team will pick it apart if they can. You can bet, he'll only show a little bit of his boxing workouts.

Hey Jacob, I’m definitely rooting for you bro. I like your vibe and character, I mean throwing and receiving curveballs at this level says a lot about you. I would like to see some real sparring sessions where you and your ‘opponent’ are really going for it. And it would be nice that afterwards you both are reflecting on it and gather some lessons from it. I think you can train all day on technic but can you actually fight?

Wow, I hadn't realized that Jacob has been asked to lose weight. That doesn't seem quite fair to me. In the schoolyard, you don't call someone out and then go, like, hey lose some muscle, then let's fight.

The last thing someone wants to do is cut significant weight. You lose all your feeling of power and you feel depleted. I'd say it'd be unwise to do so
