Tyson had to be at his absolute very best for this fight, and he was! Some of those shots he took from Ruddock were insane, and he was seemingly unfazed by them. This was Tyson's last fight before going to prison in early 1992. He never looked this good against top opposition again, but he was still good enough to take Evander Holyfield 11 rounds in 1996 (their first fight) and Lennox Lewis eight rounds in 2002. That is not bad for a fighter whose prime ended in early 1989 after a very sub-par performance over the stiff and mechanical British fighter, Frank Bruno. Ruddock did well in this second fight with Tyson, but he took too much punishment during the 12 rounds and, as a result, he was never the same fighter. Lewis blew him away in two rounds in late 1992 and then he was stopped by Tommy Morrison in six rounds in 1995. So, effectively, Ruddock versus Tyson 2 was the bout that significantly diminished both fighters - Ruddock more so than Tyson but still the damage had been done.

One of the best overall fights of Mike Tyson's career, i love this fight because it showed what other's hardly notice about Mike Tyson and that is his incomparable Stamina and endurance, by mid fight Ruddock looked like he just ran 5 miles.....Tyson is hardly breathing heavy,... in years to come Drugs and alcohol along with partying would destroy much of that in the later fight's, when he was young he was unstoppable. And most forget the reason we never saw the stamina on full show is that Tysons first many fights hardly went three rounds......

I can see Tyson’s size limitation. Donovan did a good job at using his long arms to weaken mikes punches. He also box well to keep the distance. Mike has undeniable ability to pin point with tremendous speed powerful punches. I think if I can name one think Mike is special is his ability to find opening and spring for it fast. He’s good at reading movements and knows where to place himself for the hits. His other big flaw, he loses patients easily, the longer the fight the more frustrated he gets, the more opening he leaves. All goes back to his size limitation and short reach. It would have been crazy if Mike was around 6’4, he would’ve been a wrecking machine especially with his dedication for training.

At this stage Tyson had become too reliant on punch power, stopped his head movement and didn't throw fast combinations like his early career. In those days it wouldn't have gone 3 rounds

They say Mike list ever real challenge he had. They say he didn't have a chin. I point to the 2 fights against Razor.

The first knockdown shown here, IN THIS VIDEO, was out of sequence. It really came when both fighters, broke apart, I believe right after Mike, delivered a low blow, and as he was walking away, Mills Lane, said, "c'mon, c'mon, c'mon," meaning for Tyson to turn around, and continue fighting, and that's when Mike delivered a wild, right hand punch, that appeared to catch Razor off guard, more than anything else.

Rudducks defense was terrible. He would throw a punch and then leave his hands low and tyson hammered him with a counter every time. Razor could have won.
