Boxio Toilet From Germany

Thank you for posting this. I’m in England and it’s about 6 weeks since my Boxio arrived for my campervan. It’s very easy to assemble . It’s based on a standard Euro EG 43/27 box, with the dimensions 40cm long x 30cm wide x 27cm high. For the money I think it’s good, and it’s easy to assemble, though I’m not sure how the little bolts you add each side will survive long term. I also bought the ‘up’ part too, as without it it’s very low, especially as you get older, though again think the clips to lock it onto the main box should be included. (I was prepared later to buy the clips - £10 for 6 - but as the carriage from Germany to England was an additional whopping £42 on top didn’t bother!.) The UP part itself - like the Boxio box - is a standard Euro box of approx 12 cm high, which just sits under the main box. I just wish it could be a drawer, which would be more convenient . The hemp to absorb the solid waste is easily bought from pet stores. I didn’t buy the red cap - and yes, it should be included - though in fact I don’t think it’s needed. It’s all pretty stable even in transit, (mine is on a non slip mat) plus the thought of using a cork daily where urine is going didn’t feel right - and not clean - and if needed a bottle cork or rolled up piece of degradable plastic as stopper will do the job. The ‘up’ bit came with the container for the hemp they recommend. It’s the one in the video, and I’m not convinced about that container - think a plastic lined drawstring bag might work better, but will see. What isn’t mentioned at all by Boxio is how you rinse the loo after use to keep it sweet . I’ve a spray bottle with a mix of water and white vinegar that I keep next to it, alongside the loo paper. The urine storage volume isn’t huge, but it’s 5 litres which is adequate for one or two folks for a day or two (you have tons of space over there, so get about ‘tree watering’, but here in the UK it would be very frowned on to water a tree except in an emergency - we are a small country and proper disposal of waste is essential.) I was worried emptying the bottle would be a problem with the aperture being in the centre, but it’s shaped inside, so as long as there is a volume of liquid inside, it’s easy. The small box for solids isn’t an issue either because you have a black full sized bag sitting on it, with the hemp in to absorb liquid, that contains the solid waste. There’s plenty of room. For the money it’s a great value toilet compared to the competition. My daughter has also bought one for her camper, and she has bought the Boxio sink as well, and is pleased with that too.

Agreed. I have already bought this a few weeks ago, and didn’t bother with the stopper. To be fair you don’t really need it, and a bottle cork will do the same job!
