I was born and raised in California, as was my mother. No Canadian connections as far as I know. Yet Mom always called Kraft Macaroni and Cheese “Kraft Dinner.” I usually refer to it as such, too.

For what it's worth, you guys express that you don't know why the American cheese powder is a different color. It's actually a pretty recent change where Yellow #5 and Yellow #6 were dropped from the ingredients. This is ado in part to a certain food blogger who rallied her audience (perhaps on somewhat dubious "science") against Kraft's dye choices.

I can confidently say that the Canadian white cheddar flavor of Kraft Dinner is awful - you are not missing anything. The white cheddar pasta to purchase in Canada is the President's Choice brand sold by The Real Canadian Superstore (aka Loblaws); it is one of the best box macs you will ever taste.

I watched another channel do this, but they did it in 2020. Both the Canadian and the American chose to the American Mac. They may have changed the KD recipe since 2015, I don't know(I know the recipe changed at some point that may have been pre 2015). Maybe you should do a rematch sometime to see. Could just be a matter of taste though. I am curious to try the American version now, I never would have thought it was different.

mass production too...in terms of people theres more americans than canadiens so while kd is more popular "selling on average" there it doesn't mean more total units sell in fact I doubt it.... its made more for the states which means more stay on the shelf and get old and have to be thrown away or just for show have to be in more stores cause of population and they like to have more made then sell for show on shelves for brand recognition and so they don't run out..profit comes from how much you sell relative to how much you create...if you make less but it sells well in canada but in the west you sell more total but make way more to keep up with the population demand and outreach due to marketing branding and just shelf space thats an issue

For regular I only use two tablespoons, since you're right it's just way too much. But for thick and creamy (which I think is better tbh) I use all 4 since it calls for twice as much milk, so it balances out. Funny enough thick and creamy uses the same amount of butter and twice as much milk, but only has a little over half as much fat.

I’m 62 as a teenager and my 20s kraft dinner was made better than it is in this day and age. The noodles now are undercooked or overcook or starchy unlike the noodles back in the day.I find the presidents choice white cheese pasta is cheaper and taste much better than Kraft dinner.

your suppose to put 1/2 cup milk and 4 tbsp. butter...the 1/4 milk is way too low..it dries up instantly...unless you can eat in 2 minutes I recommend close to 1/2 as you can get...maybe a tad bit over...why would you put less butter?...you need the butter to make it look and taste good...thats why its so much more fattening cause of the difference in butter ..but yeah they make the mac and cheese so small and make up for it with more butter less milk to make you think your eating more but your just eating more cheese and butter with more quantity maybe in terms of total macaroni but not the actual macaroni which is why in kd it is much bigger even if the volume is less....also why you use margarine for the mac an cheese..I suggest you don't...use butter its way better...I get if you have to margarine is a substitute but its meant to be eaten with butter its fattening for a reason it can fill you up instantly because of the butter
