It’s got doves, bikes, and ratty fingernails… what’s not to love?! Yes, cheesy and terrible. But cheesy and terrible in all the correct John Woo ways that also made the likes of Face Off awful but masterful. It’s not a higher level of fine art, but it is strong art in its own way. Kinda like an expectedly unimaginative bald eagle painted onto the tailgate of a Texan pickup truck, but rendered to a quality that would be impressive to the greatest of renaissance painters. This is us watching a top class film maker cooking up the filmic equivalent of popcorn. And I take no issue in that
