@@YAH93 Depends on the DM's ruling. The official description for the slingshot doesn't actually lay out what counts as ammunition other than a "small, hard object." In the big brawl at the end it seems like she is casting Gust of Wind to push people away. She uses Telekinesis on the axe. @GunnerM60 Жыл бұрын
This fight portrayed really well how DM's run powerful Wizards fighting against overwhelming odds. All wizards choose the tactically biggest threats & focus there. Doric/Moon Druid & Simon/Wild Magic Sorcerer definitely qualify as major threats. Now that's not to say that Holga/Barbarian is not a threat. Barbarians are scary for their physical prowess, but not their mental prowess, and that's what Wizards prey on. So it was fitting that Sofina just occupied them with spells like Animate Object & Otiluke's Resilient Sphere to keep the "annoyances" (Edgin & Holga) busy while she focused on Doric & Simon.
@warlordtf9608 Жыл бұрын
the fact the grapple check by the druid and barb failed against a caster makes me question a lot, but hey, low rolls lol
@BlueGoblin1 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, the Barbarian is the biggest threat on the field. They would be able to grapple the wizard with no problem and end her life real quick. She would not be able to cast spells as every time she did the axe would come down on her head to disrupt it. I did this as a barbarian to a druid boss and it was very underwhelming for the GM. Granted nowadays My Barbarian was becoming useless in combat except to take hits. As the enemies do so much damage that I am basically dead after I deliver one blow. So I had to retrain my barbarian to dish out as much damage as possible in a single attack so I can be sure to leave a mark before I drop like a sack of potatoes. Word of advice never design your character to be flexible just focus on doing one thing really well otherwise you will find yourself not measuring up to more powerful opponents.

I have played D&D a few sessions with a cousin but I'm certainly not a hardcore gamer. However, I really like this film! I thought having the bard not use any magic was brilliant writing. Portrayed Chris Pine as "The Everyman". Plus, allowed him to serve the role of Captain Kirk in that he acted as the charismatic leader of a group of gifted and talented individuals. His LACK of magical ability highlighted his leadership role.

True! Not even being a good fighter, w the barbarian doing most of the heavy lifting, just really feels refreshing for a character, w his lute strikes being more of a distraction than doing any real damage, really exemplifies how in dnd, even 8 str or 8 whatever stats makes for a unbalanced but very interesting character.

Compared to most final fight depictions where the party fights perfectly synchronized, this really looks like a turn-based encounter brought to life with symmetric moves and blows that I'm guessing would only be decided by successful dice checks. Never got into DnD myself, but I've been interested for at least over a year by now.

The fact that they choreographed this as an actual combat scenario is so well done, down to the bard using his movement speed to help the barbarian then leaves the melee range without disengaging and takes the attack of opportunity (which misses). Because this movie was just too fun and well put together to not have been a campaign OR for the cast/crew not to have some previous understanding of Dungeons and Dragons.
