I'm gonna be that one.. Its a Datsun Vanette, not a Suzuki Carry :P
@FoodSack8 ай бұрын
Thank you!!! They refer to it as a Datsun once and it has a Datsun sticker, but I could have sworn it was a Suzuki Carry, so I was confused. I was wrong! Thanks for clearing that up 😅

It does beg the question, which is sexier, the Carry or the Vanette? I do love the name 'Vanette', but the Suzuki wins it for me.

I absolutely loved reading the novel, pretty bloody great for a debut. I've been apprehensive to watch the adaptation, purely for most adaptations aren't very good. Thanks for showcasing Trent Dalton, and as an observation, Beenleigh is still Beenleigh, used to live on Lehman's Hill back in the day, memories...
@FoodSack8 ай бұрын
As far as adaptations go it was quite good - I think the streaming era has been good for book adaptations, as they can tell the story over a few episodes rather than cram it into two hours. I remember the ending of the book being a bit more elegant with certain plot reveals, but I might have just remembered incorrectly (it’s been a while since I read it). Also it’s tough having to cast new different actors when characters age in a movie. No other choice though, really. Lehman’s Hill? Production was based on Spanns Road, across from Poppy’s Chocolates. Walking distance.
@Brendan.Wheatley8 ай бұрын
@@FoodSack You mentioning Spanns Rd, brought back memories of me as a young whipper-snapper riding my pushie down to that take away place situated across from the equipment hire place (theses days), and just under the railway over pass. Chicko Rolls were hot property back in the eighties. I'll watch Boy Swallows Universe, after I devour The Wire complete series for the third time, I'm a sucker for great and gritty film... )

Absolutely and YOU showcased that. Loved your commentary too!! Extremely detailed and informative but also such a hoot!! I loved when you pointed out the three angles they’d used in the parking lot scene but what we’d also have seen had they turned the camera in the other direction. You could do this for a living!! I loved the story and the acting and now I have a deeper appreciation of what the director knew he could draw upon to create his perfect location choices.

This was a very interesting commentary on some of the locations used in this great series. I work in film and think it was a great thing to document and showcased the director and DP’s vision and the art department’s talent to transform the buildings when necessary. Well done!! Loved it.

@jameschurchley I saw it when I was quite young, probably when it was new to weekly in VHS. The sex and violence made a strong impression on me. I found it out on Logan’s very own page dedicated to the red bridge. They’ll need to update it.

interesting video but as someone who used to live 5 mins from beenleigh (bethania) way back in 1984-1990. I can tell you the Beenleigh of now is VERY differant to back then. in particular the old railway station with the park(long gone) and the main street with coles at the end is completely differant and built up compared to back then
