I'm not sure if I'm the only one, but when I think back to my childhood in the 80s, everything looked exactly as the old films looked... Kind of hazy and hot looking, faded colors as if everything had a faded hue. Kind of grungy..... Now everything seems really bright and HD looking. Not only on film but through my own eyes everything has become more HD looking..... Some people think that I sound crazy and make no sense, but I swear I can tell a difference.... I sure do wish things looked the way they did back then.

Thanks for watching I do notice that grass is definitely greener than it used to be to be. In the past grass on the side of roads wasn’t so manicured, so it would be taller and more hay breeds (which would look browner) With cities cutting the grass and keeping it lower, that allows different breeds to thrive. Now it looks greener and that breed becomes dominant. Where as in the past you would want more hay varieties for livestock and that grass would spread. My house has a field with a lot of hay, (it’s an old farm) as my county is growing up I’m seeing more and more neighborhood type grass on the roads. Maybe thats a part of it?

I agree! I tell my kids all the time it use to be hazy dull looking all the time in the 70s 80s. You can see it in old movies from that time. Now everything is clear and bright.

Right in the area where the car wash was on Hwy 3 in Jonesboro, there was also a small theater back in the day. I saw the Disney movie Herbie The Love Bug that featured an old Volkswagen Beetle. They were commonly referred to as a "Doodle Bug" back then. I was about 9 yo at the time. I also remember my daddy taking us in for a dip in Mundy's Mill Pond (a small area just below some rock and falls). Nice trip down memory lane. Thank you❣

I don’t know if anyone pointed this out, but the Gold Cadillac was Gleason’s and his chauffeur drove him around everywhere! He was usually drinking! It’s in the scene where the Trooper kicks the car to stop the horn. And in other scenes as well. It followed him everywhere!! With a full compliment of cigars.

One portion of the chase at night that you didn't cover was filmed at Southway Shopping Center where the old A&P used to be. Burt speeds up the little hill in front of A&P and exits the parking lot with a right turn in front of the New Moon Chinese restaurant. I saw the movie (as well as many others) at the Jonesboro Twin which was in the North Main Plaza just north of the car wash. The structure is still there, but I don't know if it's in use. One of the reasons I love this movie so much is because I can go back in time and see my old hometown just as it existed when I was a child. I was 9 in the summer of '76...lots of good memories.

The house across from Snowmans house in the movie was owned by TT Ford, He and Mrs Ford were the people on the porch. They went to our church. Jonesboro Presbyterian. The "beer warehouse" was Mr Fords garage. Clayton County was a dry county and did not allow any beer or wine sales until well into the 80s. I remember working with the Chamber of commerce to get it allowed. Waynes was a 5 & Dime not a grocery store. I knew him too. Same street used in Movin on too (TV Show). Today Clayton County is a 3rd world country with a corrupt superior court that is involved in organized crime and racketeering. I am a victim. Laws ignored to steal a $630,000 property from my Dad's estate. It has financially destroyed my life and credit. Nobody cares

One thing is for sure as time goes on things get and worse and worse. God I pray someone invents a time machine so I can go back to the 1950s and live out the rest of my years from then. As a Canadian, I will die before the mass third-world immigration when my country was still a majority Christian European-based place with English flags and food and North American cars and smoking anywhere you want no political correctness when you could afford a nice house on a blue-collar wage where the green spaces were pristine and Canadians were proud and patriotic. When men were men and the ladies were glad about it. Beer and smokes were cheap and people were cool and had manners. Drive-in movies real steaks real burgers. Hell, we could hop in the car and go camping without a freakin reservation those were the days great music beautiful fast cars great TV shows and so on.

The old man that lived at the Mill put tobacco on my stings. My dad was accidentally in the movie, he was driving and was caught behind Jackie Gleason at Flint River Road. It was the scene just before the car wash scene. He was in a Blue Ford truck with a black spray painted grille.

I grew up in College Park and had a '77 black and gold TA back 30+ years ago. I use drive all through Riverdale, Jonesboro and never thought about taking a picture of the car at the location when everything still looked the same. That picture of the dugout (my profile pic) was taken by a girl i went to high school with.

Thanks for watching. Sounds like an amazing car. That would’ve been an awesome picture. But something like that, you don’t realize how special the moment could be until years later. I’m loving doing this KZbin stuff, I hope it last for many years to come and offers a way to share memories with future generations

For this video we only hit the Jonesboro area filming locations. We are hoping to do a Helen video, maybe this winter? Ironically I was on Ga 400 a few weeks ago and filmed it but I haven’t started the editing process yet.

Awesome, I’ve had a few Camaros and firebirds (but never a bandit TA). Always been a gear head, had several cool cars over the years. Movies like this, Bullet, gone in 60 seconds, NASCAR probably had a lot to do with it

When will you do an update including Cleveland, Georgia scenes? A lot of it was filmed in the Cleveland area too. My Uncle was Mayor of Cleveland at the time. He was able to acquire one of the less damaged Firebirds used in the movie.

I am originally from Texarkana and it is amazing how similar the scene locations that they used actually look just as if they are in Texarkana. They released Smokey And The Bandit at the Joy Twin Movie Theatre for its first release showing in Texarkana Texas ( Nash ) and we went to see it on the first day, first showing and then again a couple of more times within the next two weeks after. It is my all time favorite movie and 77-78 ( second generation ) Trans Am’s are of course my favorite cars. Kenworth tractors are my favorite rigs ( I am a truck driver ) and of course this movie had multiples of my favorite actors- Burt, Sally, Jerry, Jackie. I have seen this movie at least 200 times and plan to watch it many many more- can’t get enough. If anybody is interested, there are also other movies filmed in and about Texarkana that are true stories. 1.- The Legend Of Boggy Creek ( which I grew up in Genoa and lived on highway 82 and went to school in Genoa right next to Fouke Arkansas that highway 71 runs right through, which Fouke is the setting in this movie, but I was born on the Texas side of Texarkana.) 2.- The Town That Dreaded Sun Down. Ya’ll should check these 2 movies out sometime.

That’s awesome, I’ve never been to Texarkana but I plan to pass through there in a few years when I go to Moab. I hear it’s not as nice as it used to be, I’ve also heard it’s a fairly big town even though it’s regressed in recent years. Cool to know the similarities with Jonesboro ga. The train station is also the cover of a Lynyrd Skynyrd album from the same year

Smokey and the Bandit 1977 is one of my favorite Movies of all time. Thank you so much for sharing this video I love watching Smokey and the Bandit Then And Now Filming Location. I can’t believe they removed the snowman’s house that was sad I was so surprised. But there’s one thing you forgot to film the shot it was when Burt Reynolds and Sally Field went to a swamp area when Burt Reynolds said to Frog “You wanna starche your legs”( Do you know where in Georgia that scene was shot.

Thanks for watching, there are several locations of that movie being lost to progress. That scene was filmed at Unicoi state park in Helen ga. That walking bridge is gone but there’s a new one going over the creek now. I was in Helen just a few weeks ago, filmed a little for the next Video. Unfortunately we ran out of time and didn’t make it to Unicoi park, we’ll hit it again in the future

Excellent video. Glad you’re keeping the memories alive. I stayed with my aunt and uncle that summer in Ellenwood Ga. Never knew that one of my all time favorite movies was being filmed nearby. Also my parents moved to Social Circle during the time The Dukes of Hazzard was being filmed in Covington Ga which is nearby. Jonesboro Ga. The entire movie is filmed in Georgia, to the best of my knowledge. (Except for 1 scene that was a reshoot in LA) Jonesboro is about 20 minutes south of Atlanta. It’s mostly filmed in Jonesboro, Cumming, Helen, McDonough, and Riverdale. All Georgia
