I had rhinoplasty when I was 26 and I am happy enough with my results. I would never go under the knife again voluntarily. I cant imagine having an addiction to plastic surgery. The healing process is really hard on your body. To repeatedly do that to yourself and lose every aspect of your natural features is not only harmful but sad. I don't understand why surgeons allow this. They need mental help, not a facelift.

The mental help they would get would never cure them. As someone with body dysmorphic disorder, it’s not as simple as seek therapy, get on meds, practice self help, love yourself. That does not cure this disorder. Some cope with surgery and sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn’t.

Agree. I never had plastic surgery but I had back to back open shoulder surgeries including full shoulder replacement when I woke up I had complete loss of appetite for over a year and severe malnutrition. It also triggered PBC&PSC (rare liver diseases) my only cure is a liver transplant. That's why Jasmine on 90 days is nuts to be having so much surgery with chronic illnesses because she is going to trigger a new illness.

I'm all for you having the right to make yourself feel and look the way you want to but it just always blows my mind when people who already look perfect spend $30,000 to look better, but make themselves look so much worse. it's a personal choice though but if he was going for a beauty standard, he was already it. I really think that some people should have their doctors push for them to go through a bit of counseling before getting a ton of surgeries. I believe a lot of this has to do with body dysmorphia as opposed to actually wanting or needing the changes.... they're never actually going to probably be satisfied no matter how much were they get done or how much money they dump into it.

My older sister has had to have several surgeries in her lifetime and she’s 22. Ranging from surgery on her ears at least seven times both of her feet had to be majorly operated on. She’s had her tonsils removed her wisdom teeth taken out she’s had her nose operated on because her canal collapsed on her right nostril. And I was at the hospital for every single one of her surgeries so I understand that she didn’t want the surgeries because a lot of them are pretty major but in my mind, I don’t understand why somebody would willingly do that to themselves with her nose operation every time she would so much is sneeze or even wiggle her nose a little bit and it would just start gushing blood so I don’t understand why anybody thinks it’s OK to do this. It’s one thing to do it because you want to improve yourself but it’s another thing to do it because you’re so the addicted to the process of having surgery and of the healing process and doing it for attention.

The last two times I had life saving surgeries,I woke up in the recovery room where both times a teenage boy was there after surgery as well. Both times it was boys getting plastic surgery getting their ears pinned back. I didn’t know until then that it’s a very popular surgery for boys. I started to notice on actors as well as musicians after their first hit or two they get their ears fixed.

When my son was 8 months old (he was a preemy to begin with) he had skull surgery because the bones in his head weren't forming right. We got 3 opinions before we decided. He could of worn a special helmet instead (my nephew did), but the surgery would give a better result. While he was in intensive care, his eyes were swollen shut and he was all bandaged up. He was in a room with some other little ones. One of the parents asked us if he was in a car accident, we said "no, we chose to have this done". Even though we were doing the right thing, it still was horrifying. I don't know why I watch these videos, they make me cringe. I watch "Botched" and shudder when they explain that they will have to break the nose.......I guess it's like watching a car wreck. And yes, it seems like everyone is looking the same......I call it the "Kardashian" effect. Thing is........even they don't really look like that!!

I know this feeling. My daughter had cataract at birth. She was operated at 6 weeks old in one eye, but the eye was looking cross eyed after. She needed 2 more surgeries at 1.5 and 3 years old to fix the cross eyed, which was purely cosmetic (since she was basically blind in that eye). It was the right decision to do the surgeries, to avoid bullying and because she couldn't walk in the street without getting comments from (ADULT) passing people. But still, I felt bad for putting my baby/toddler through cosmetic surgeries.

It’s not more than body dysmorphia. It just it that. Body dysmorphic disorder can be severe, it’s an obsession just like OCD. This is part of it for some. Others like me, want surgery but not so much as these two.
