I love that instead of showing Jesus or the Angels directly, you show their glory illuminating an ordinary shepherd. Great project! I've been really wanting to tackle some bible scenes myself; I've been stuck thinking how I'd make a diorama for each of the plagues of egypt.

I’m not sure Jesus would have much patience for our “religiousness”. He didn’t seem to appreciate the money changers in the Temple very much and it seems like he spent most of His ministry building relationships to me. I expect a lot of modern churches would probably stop Him at the door…. Seems like His ideas tend to be pretty unwelcome in church nowadays. All that “love your neighbor” and “care about others” nonsense. Shame on Him! Who did He think He is? 😆 Merry Christmas friend and don’t let anyone convince you God is trapped in a church or blocked behind some man with a collar. He knows you and He loves you. May not always feel like it and, I’d personally like Him to ask MY opinion on His plans more frequently, but He’s there for you and He’s not as small and wimpy as we tend to think of Him. Pitch Him the hard questions and look for His answers, He’s a big boy. ❤

I consider myself non-denominational and I don't go to church for the reasons you mentioned; I want no middle man between me and Him and I can figure out what He's on about pretty well without some pastor trying to herd me into a Very Specific Narrative like he does everybody else in the interest of controlling me. As a general observation, whatever our views, religious or otherwise, people need to accept each other irrespective of our opinions on such matters - this would prevent an awful lot of stupidity such as wars and, in everyday life, harming others for being 'different' in some way.

I applaud your choice to leave the presence of the angle implied. The light emphasizes the otherworldly and unknowable nature of it and leaves the shepherds reaction to be your only point of reference.

I'm sorry if you're not comfortable answering this but I've been wondering for a long time that how modern christians, like yourself, feel about the trend of depicting biblical angels as accurately as they were depicted in the bible instead of the humans in white robes with feathered wings type of "angel".

@tappajavittu no worries! It really depends on the Christian. I am personally fine with depicting angels. However, I feel that people should be very careful to make them not objects or worship. Images of Christ and God, however, are different. I feel even greater caution should be taken there. But, like I said before, the question really depends on the christian.
