After a group of 5th grade boys noticed a classmate with a learning disability getting teased, they banded together and made him a part of their gang.
*************************************
All the students at Franklin Elementary in Mankato, Minn. start every day with the Pledge of Allegiance.
But the "justice for all" part belongs to five fifth-grade boys.
"Why pick on someone," Jack Pemble begins to ask, as Jake Burgess finishes his question, "who has special needs?"
They're talking about James Willmert, a fifth-grader from another classroom, with a learning disability. Which, it turns out, can get a guy teased. READ MORE: usat.ly/1FJhnYe

When I was in elementary school there was this boy named Marcos. When he was born his cord was wrapped around his neck and he had a stroke. That left the left side of his body paralyzed. So he limped and his left hand wasn't able to move. He also had learning disabilities. People would always pick on him which made him mad and violent and he'd get in physical fights. My two friends and I always had his back and never let a bully touch him. So in a way I can relate to this.

As a dad with a 7 year old autistic son, I will buy these kids a beer when they're 21. The big kid is a boss, and he's that one kid that even the bullies won't mess with, so he uses his size and strength to protect someone weaker than him. All these kids obviously have awesome parents, so much love and respect to whoever is raising these great young men. I hope my son has friends like this when he is older.

DuckThug It basically means that these kids are more mature than some adults and know how to treat better with adults. I have seen adults bully those that are disabled, call them ugly names treat them like they are four years old like they are less than human yet these 9-11 year old kids can treat a person who is disabled with respect.

+SpiderTyler 2099 I'm so impressed with you gents. The fact that you have empathy (the most powerful state of human consciousness) shows that you have a high emotional IQ. It proves you have a good head on your shoulders. Never forget that. It doesn't make you special, and empathy certainly won't make your life easier (unless it's from someone else), but you will be living in honor and righteousness. You may have a harder time in high school, you may even second guess your so-call emotional IQ, but that's completely normal. Just never lose sight of the fact that you are everything that's right in this crazy world. - I wish I could put empathy in the drinking water, give all these reptile-brained self-centereds a dose of humanity. :) That's me being cynical. (Not a good quality to have BTW.) You, James, and your buddies are helping me to lose my cynicism. LOL - Thank you for that. :) W/peace&Love

Indeed, but geniuses are not always diverse either in their fields. I'm a touristic guide, so I know my geography. A couple years back, I worked for a school, and there was that Asperger kid. Handsome AF, wayyyy better than me in geography, it was his thing, his only "handicap" was in social matters. He made a big impression on me, and me on him I think. I actualy resigned from that school because of a disagreement on how to treat him with my coworkers. I interacted with him as he was any other kid, and slowly he started opening himself, where other members of the staff treated him with way to much "attention" to his Asperger syndrom. I Introduced him to some other youngsters in the school I knew well. They are still friends today, I know because I kept contact with them, once a year we gather (initiated them to some geeky stuff they love). He is about to mary sometime next summer. I am extremely proud of him, and I think it's quite a sweet revenge when you see that "poor kid" having more success than stupid people who would diminish him. For me it takes genius to be able to conquer life like that. Not the "academic" kind. Just life skills.

Before I met my good buddy Brett, he was aggressive, even to his friends. He came to the school when I was in 6th grade. For the first few weeks, I didn't think much of him, and he was kind of lonely. It was only when I asked him if he watched SAO (which I had gotten into that summer) to which he replied yes. No tears. No hitting. It wasn't until he told me that I realized he was aggressive, and at that point, I had practically modded him with the traits I look for in a friend. I saw the good in him, and he let me reform his life.

I don't have kids of my own but I have a very mild learning disabilities and it's always important to teach young children to have love and compassion for kids with disabilities kids with disability has more opportunities and has beautiful heart and it's so wonderful to see these five boys pay attention to a little boy with special needs and it brings good to my heart and it brings tears to my eyes to see wonderful kids being that good being bullied was never easy I was bullied so many times it brings good to my heart and it brings tears to my eyes to see wonderful kids being that good being bullied was never easy I was bullied so many times and they name me anything from the book it's never nice to be picked on because trying to be on our in our shoes and try to see what it's like to be a person with special needs kids used to say that I had the easy homework but if everything was easy it was never easy for me I struggle with my studies and was my learning and I used to be so embarrassed by my disability but not anymore I don't let people know I just let people guess what's wrong with me because why tell somebody that I am disabled butt but I'm proud of who I am
