I am not sure that Stiglitz is aware that the 1% owns the federal government of the US. The 1% has its foot on the brakes of social democracy. Remember that its is not only due to unlimited campaign contributions,. It is also due to the revolving doors between big corporations (especially banks) and the federal government. Goldman Sachs owns the Treasury Department. The U.S. will need a miracle to reach progressive capitalism and social democracy.
