I’m so glad she kept reminding us to neutralize our empathy caps because that really helped me not get emotional during parts of the video. This one was, at least for me, particularly more emotional than usual. I think because the out of left field turns to “oh now this WILD UNHINGED PSYCHOTIC stuff starts happening” had me flabbergasted a few times ngl What an actually WILD story 🫣

“tantrums” and “disobey” are my least favorite words. i feel like they were used so much to describe my anxiety breakdowns when i was a kid. it wasn’t that i wasn’t getting what i wanted, i was just overstimulated and overwhelmed.

@@zack-lk8ifI grew up in a house that fostered and the amount of times I heard about those kids being held down or medicated to “calm them down” is disgusting :c if a kid is acting out there’s a reason, ACTUAL tantrums are easy to deal with but if a kid is harming others, themselves, items or legitimately distressed then you’re meant to find out why and fix something, so many people don’t get that

I think it’s so scary that mothers can do this to their kids and people don’t view it the same way as fathers sexually abusing their kids. When mothers do it, it’s scary how many people just call it an odd attachment rather than abuse. I feel like mothers “really comfortable” around their sons/daughters are not seen as abusive. It’s absolutely insane to me and I just want to scream at people to wake up!
@SplooTheAlien

I totally agree! A s*xual mother son relationship is seen as highly inappropriate at best to some people but never scrutinized to the same extent as a father ab*sing their kids (with the father being labeled a monster, rightly so, and the ab*use being described as highly disturbing). I personally feel disturbed when any parent takes advantage of their kid and both types of ab*se need to extremely demonized!

I grew up touch starved, only being touched by my parents with slaps, punches, and kicks. I never had any physical contact from extended family. I was parentified at age 9 and was also loaned out often as a babysitter starting at 11. Taking care of babies & small children was the only physical contact I got. When I was 16, some really horrible life events happened, so I didn't see my friends for 4-ish months (I was homeschooled & we went to a 4 hour co-op homeschooling group 1 day a week.) When I saw them again, one of them ran up & hugged me. It was such a confusing feeling, shock, peace, calm, and strange, but it made me feel less anxious. So I started hugging all my friends hi & bye, and they started hugging each other 😊 my main love languages are physical touch & quality time.

It’s weird for me because I had similar experiences in my childhood, yet I hate affection. It makes me feel uncomfortable. I don’t even date because I have trouble with it. When my best friend went away to college, I shook his hand before he left. Am I the only one who had the complete opposite reaction to this upbringing?

I relate as well. Single mother only touched me with physical abuse, and in public tried to hug me and show she was a "good mother". We both felt the awkwardness. I was made to also babysit and not enjoy my childhood (or whatever was left of it). Although, i cant relate to having friends back then who cared, i know how now I try to make it a thing between friends and family. P.s I also did not have contact with extended family.

I sadly had a really similar childhood as Cynthia had. My parents never hugged me, even as a child. I remember a friend talking to me about how her dad would tickle her, and for me, that was out of this world. It is extremely hard when parents never show affection or affirmation; my feelings were always invalidated, and to this day I struggle with this. I'm very glad that I have a boyfriend who is super sweet, and he helped me learn how to love and show love. So if you are out there and go through this or something similar, I want you to know: You are loved! Never give up finding love, and never be embarrassed about your feelings; they are valid! ❤

If you are a new mother and feel you are struggling with bonding with your child or PPD or even PPS PLEASE reach out for help from professionals. I had to my ppd was awful. They truly care if you can open up and they will help you. Do not sacrifice these precious moments with your baby because you feel overwhelmed and confused. as someone w mommy issues, its a struggle to be near other women of authority. it certainly doesnt help that some of these women of authority had unattainable standards(one of which solely for me for some reason) so Cynthia's hatred of women could stem from her own mother, perhaps her mom was v beautiful and young lookin and she channeled that hatred into her and Marlows victims

BOZE theres a case I would love to see you cover! I think it would suite your new sinister series very well. It's about a girl named Sarah who developed DID after she was r-worded at four years old by her neighbor. When she was seventeen her boss offered to have her move in to "help her out" he was in his 50s. He had made her completely reliant on him, and had SA'd her multiple times. She killed him, and used his blood to write freedom of the walls. Stephanie Soo covered this case, but I think it would be interesting to see your take on it perhaps with more videos from the trial and interrogation.

When she said “that’s the intro for context” I KNEW this was gonna get wild and even I had my jaw drop a few times because it went Mach 5 into “WHAT THE - H U H?” Territory several times. Holy shit. Thank you research, editing, and storyline team! Brilliant as always, and, obviously thank you BOZE, for giving us great, researched content as usual 💖💜

I just want to say I really admire your addressing some of the critical comments in the Gina grant video. I didn’t necessarily share their views, despite being a victim of gross neglect by both parents, but I understood their viewpoints. I had a horrible childhood. But it really does show how much you truly care and you don’t often get that sense of realness on other channels. I noticed. I love watching your videos and I admire you even more now. And your tshirts are always so dope! LOVE the Type-O shirts! Hope everyone has a great week!

Oh my gosh, Boze. The amount of information you explain like the whole children having these big emotions yet not fully understanding them. Growing up, the concept of time was not something I was aware of until about 10 or 11. And it’s around that age that I started picking up on stuff from my family- especially my mother. The emotional incest, internally taking in how my mother treated me as a representation of me. You perfectly explained it, and it sucks because it’s like damn I was 10 trying to rationalize why I got kicked in the ribs or purposely embarrassed in public by my mother. Like who threatens to throw a glass of water at their child at Denny’s because they don’t know what book they’re going to choose for a book report?! Then her copying the clothes I wore as I hit puberty. As I look back..a lot of stuff was strange. 90% sure mothers don’t still bathe with their children once they’re past puberty or trauma dump on them. Absolutely love the work you do, it’s helped me understand narcissists and I’m working on moving in with my sister ❤

I’m so over adults using their child trauma for pity or defending their disgusting monstrous actions I had an unthinkable, unspeakable, unimaginable traumatic horrific childhood and not once have I ever even fathomed wanting to be the one responsible for such pain and trauma an another so this song and dance is getting old, tiring and inexcusable if anything should have made them not want to be a product of their environment

Boze, I highly recommend you look into Erikson's Stages of Development. It's a child development concept that basically dives into what you were talking about with babies needing comfort and touch, and goes further into what concepts are developing or not developing in a child. The first stage is trust vs. mistrust, basically "will my needs be met?" if the answer is no, it can have a huge impact on a child's social-emotional development longterm. I think you wouldbreally find the stages interesting and the information useful for these videos!

Which Rabbit Junk song is in the intro? It was a PERFECT way to start this episode! Also, I appreciate you so much Boze! I can be having the worst time and I turn you on and you never fail to make me laugh and take my mind off of the bad shit. Even though sometimes we are diving deep in bad shit, but you know what I mean lol. I love how you tell the stories and keep us engaged!! Never a dull moment and my favorite person to binge watch! Duuude, I grew up like Cynthia. My mom was the same as hers! Only difference in was I didn’t turn outward. I didn’t go out and party and do drugs, I did drugs and stayed home. My mom is a narcissist pick me theater kid. Nope. I’m surprised I turned out pretty ok. In my opinion.

Battered woman syndrome my ass. Cynthia knew what strings to pull. Not that Marlowe wasn’t an abusive punk but seems to me he was often trying to get Cynthia what his mother had taught him women wanted. Money, drugs, and sex. No one messes with Cynthia who had no issues pulling a gun on someone before Marlowe there. I’m thinking they more fed off each other on a weird kind of power struggle. Marlowe starts getting out of turn and Cynthia puts him in it by screwing with his need to possess and makes him feel he’s in charge. Seen abusive women do it often enough to be terrifying.
