BPS knives makes the best budget bushcrafty type knives you can buy. What you can get for 20 to 45 dollars from them is almost unreal. Plus the owner is a fantastic person and very reachable on IG. Good solid company providing superb deals in high quality well built knives at a super insane price.

They are excellent knives especially for this price. A KZbinr in Canada took off the handles and added spacers in underneath and you can always send down the handles and quote them with some oil or finish. I have the adventurer and a smaller version and I think this is going to be the next one on my list.

I’m to take delivery this Sat. on my first BPS bush craft knife. After watching your video I am again excited. Mine is a BS2FTS, which I’m guessing is the model number. I didn’t buy this knife for bushcrafting, more for cleaning big boned large catfish. I’m convinced this knife will do well. If I’m sold on this knife, I will probably order the adventurer. I wish BPS made a fish filet knife, but from what I see, there is no such animal. Update: I took delivery today, one day early. Very impressed. Wow, this knife is sharp, really sharp. Cleaned the oil off the blade, wiped it down, and admired the beauty. Loved the leather sheath. For $27 + tax delivered, this. Is a real deal. Now, gotta ponder over my next BPS knife.

Grease/oil - glad my BPS adventure came coated with oil and wrapped in plastic - great knives they are !!! I blued the blade sanded the handles lightly - not a complaint from me !!!!

Great video! I have the BS1 FTS and the BS2FTS. Both are beautiful. And the edge is beyond razor sharp. You do have to keep them cleaned and oiled because of the carbon steel. There are a few KZbin videos from BPS Knives and they show you the process of how they make their knives. All hand made. I don’t know how they can put that much work into making a knife for that price.

Okay for every one who owns a BPS knives, and I own two, so far. Take the handle scales off, you will need a small metric allen wrench. And check to see if there is rust under the handle scales. I did this to both my BPS Knives and found rust. I sanded it off, using fine sand paper and a sanding sponge, oiled the tangs with mineral oil, put the scales back on, its all good. They are great knives. I have the little BS1FTS,and the much bigger Savage. Many different styles can be found on Amazon. I've heard the factory is back up and running now.

I have this knife. The sheath alone is worth around $25. You can file the end pommel and it will strike a ferro rod. It's one of my sharpest knives and has a very sharp 90° spine.

yes the single layer of skirt-leather single stitched is worth 25 bucks. 😂😂 no dangle or d ring, barebones. May as well be a plastic mora sheath. at least varustekala has their sheath game on on their similar knives

Too bad you aren't It took a whole ONE minute and seven seconds before I started opening the box, during which I clearly explained the background of the video. If you lack the self control, patients, and attention span that even a young child can demonstrate to wait a single minute - without having a temper tantrum because you aren't given I stant gratification in a KZbin video mind you - I'm quite certain it's your qualifications for knives that we all should be questioning. If you scroll down to the more detailed description, it does say made in the Ukraine. Looks beautiful! ETA Amazon's listing says "shaving sharp out of the box" Looks like it might be. I am in the same camp or the opposite as far as blade finish. I want them to be totally shiny new or beat to hell patina. Lmao.

I really like my BPS. I forget the model name, but it's got finger cut outs and is a 5in blade. It took a forced patina well and throws sparks like a champ. It carves decently, but I have other knives I prefer to carve with

If you haven't bought a knife yet, please try the one I just received, BPS B1. It's HRC 59 to 60. First time buyer of scandi and bc fixed blade. I wanted mine because I was hoping I didn't have to touch it up as much since I don't own a sharpening stone, only a worksharp system. I don't know how to use a regular stone. I'm new to collecting. Mostly kizer, cold steel, Ganzo, eafengrow, 1 reate, shieldon, sitivien, 1 Hinderer fixed Emmett. But I wanted to start camping so I bought this BPS B1. I think second time viewer, so I don't know if you compare hardness of same steel and brand. Just wanted to see if labeling is accurate. Some BPS say HRC 56 to 57, 58 to 59 and 59 to 60. Thank you in advance if you try this experiment. ✌️🦁 Leo from San Diego Ps, I may take mine apart and add a black plastic liner to make it a bit thicker. Just a consideration for you and your knife 🔪.

1066 high carbon steel, and yes but you will need a metric allen wrench, a small one. None of mine where greased or oiled. But hey, they do rust. So have to keep them well oiled in storage. Take some steel wook and smooth out the handle, it want take long. Then oil the wood with Boiled LInseed oil or mineral oil.

Their Savage model in a FFG is awesome but if you want to try another scandi then Adventurer or HK5 are great

It's 1066 steel, its prone to rust if not oiled well. The handle is walnut.

If to be correct, it is 65Г (65G) soviet era spring steel, which is not exactly 1066. If properly treated, hardened, tempered it easily outperforms precisly preped 1095. So no wonder here. And hey, those men made it hear, in Ukraine, finished and sharpened by hand.

It's funny I was just looking at them. I am always looking for a good fixed blade to give away to boy scouts in our local troop. 1066 has mixed reviews. For a scout knife I don't mind a steel that requires a little maintenance so the boys get a chance to learn to sharpen there knife.

Look, it's not actual 1066, it is 65Г (65G) soviet era spring steel. If heat treated, tempered and forged properly it easily outperforms 1095 in it's best for any kind of bushcraft/camp/combat tool. And belive, those guys at BPS Knives, here in Ukraine, know how to do it right. So no worries, your youngscouts will be sutisfied.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I said in the video. It's a Carbon steel blade. For an outdoors blade I would rather have carbon because the edge retention and ability to use it continuously is more important than the ease of maintenance to me. Other may feel like outdoors the blade is bound to get wet so they prefer a stainless steel where they aren't worried so much about having to wipe it down and possibly keep it oiled. I would much rather spend a second or two doing that than having to go back to the stones more often. But what matters is using your tools the way you are comfortable. It's cool that they give people the option.

OK, good question...It really depends on the steel and where we set the bar for "low". There's lower end, low, and junk. 1066 is lower than say...1095 (the last 2 numbers signify carbon content), but there are certainly lower end types below it. For what they are using it for here - a lower cost, but reliable strength outdoors blade - 1066 is a decent choice, for the price. It will hold an edge for a bit, and the lower carbon will give it a bit less brittle factor in exchange for the lower edge retention. At the much higher end there are things like 3V & M4. In between are the alloy & tool steels. So this steel does sit on the lower end of plain carbon steels, but for what we are looking at and paying for here, it's not a bad choice. It's definitely not the bottom of the barrel at all. A lot of bigger brands use 1055 and 1045, both having a lower carbon content. And cheaper carbon steels still go way down from there.

BPS = Bushcraft, Paracord, Survival. I’ve got the HK5 and just got the HK1S, absolutely love both knives. The excess oil is meant to protect the blade during the time it sits in the box, the last thing you would want is to receive a rusty knife that’s sat in some warehouse for a few years, as with the excess oil in the Paracord hole. It’s also recommended to oil the knife and let sit for 1 hour, then wipe away clean and store in the sheath.

SERIOUSLY! Do yourself and people that watch you; Do your homework and increase knowledge of what you are reviewing. 1066 is Carbon Steel Carbon Steel ìs Harder than Stainless steel and takes and holds a great edge. Carbon is VERY SUSCEPTIBLE to moisture and therefore rust. OIL IS A FRIEND! Everytime after using coat the blade. I use a vegetable oil so it will be good for food. Compare that sheath with others offered by different brands and it is OUTSTANDING for the price you just paid.

Because I clean the blade to show viewers what the production looks like, without the packaging oil (which you have no idea the composition of) from the factory?!? Packaging can mean the difference between an item in good condition arriving after long shipping or especially in the case of a high carbon steel blade - a rusty unusable piece of crap showing up. I know that critical thought is hard for some people. But yes, packaging matters.
