I came to know this station and route very well a few years later from 1993 when 37s were diagrammed for seven glorious years. First did the line in August 1985 on a lovely day trip to Bangor!

The Class 47 Archive show's 47323 as rescuing 47457 at Colwyn Bay on 20/09/89, is it possible you could confirm the date so any amendments or notes can be made please.

I was Signaller at Colwyn Bay 1987 till it closed in October 1991 & we had many a 47 fail at the Bay due to low sump oil as the cant on the down platform is quite high. When I was bashing 40s in the early 80s the afternoon Londons failed at the Bay and we had the Amlwch Tanks loco to rescue the failed Duff, thankfully it was a 40 (& on coffins) only as far as the Junction as the sump level was back to ‘normal’….
