BR in the 1980s - Salisbury

Another interesting place to spend some time and particularly in the 1980s was Salisbury. A stopping place for Waterloo to Exeter services which at the time, were Class 50 hauled having been largely displaced from their West of England services with this Southern route to and from the capital. Also a number of Class 33s were seen working to and from Portsmouth on through trains plus a few other interesting visitors.

You'd be surprised what you can tow with an ED on diesel. Not fast admittedly.

Two of them did a round trip to Birmingham New Street from Basingstoke on diesel
