Yes, the class 37 was the best diesel locomotive ever, the sound, the look.... Beautiful. My favourite locomotive of all time, then the 47 and the 55 class. Thanks for the upload and the memories ;)

spompey Hi buddy, i missed the reply oh that sounds mega my favourite 37 workings were Peak Forest stone especially the ICI hoppers but i like all the workings that left there. Also Northern steel and similar would be excellent chief, if you could upload them that would be superb ;-) Many thanks again for sharing these classic vids.

Great footage, and the 60 starting those ore cars is quite uneventful compared with the thrash of the 37s. Weren't these ore trains once the domain of a trio 37s?

Around the South Wales area they did have 3x37 haulage for a while....Many thanks and sincere regards...Mark

the level crossing has long gone -they built a bridge over the line a few years ago. these workings used to be class 33 powered as did virtually everything on the southern region

Things have certainly changed in that area, it's hard to believe how long ago this was now ....many thanks for the info and for watching Iain.........Mark

Who was the idiot on the wrong side of the level crossing with a child? I'm surprised the shunter didn't move them? I was a driver and know that train would never have moved if someone is lineside. What an irresponsible father. I remember those days of the lovely 37's at North Camp. All tress now in the old sidings.

Yes....After the filming I said to the (Idiot) chap with the child about the predicament he was in and also the shunter was aware at the time of his position deemed him to be OK, albeit I did not really agree. The Ripple Lane crew were also aware of him but did not seem too concerned, if the shunting had left the lines clear at any time then one of them would have intervened and ejected him away.....Many thanks and I do totally agree that this chap was trespassing. best wishes..and take care....Mark

Great video and thanks for sharing. The area around Margam has changed so much in recent years. Margam Knuckle Yard is now full of class 66's and Margam TMD closed a number of years ago. The area where you were filming the South Wales main line used to be a great area for filming, but it is all fenced off and overgrown now. I made a slideshow of Margam TMD a few a years ago after it was closed and abandoned. kzbin.info/www/bejne/n3_GeninlpVmrLc

One thing s for sure those 37's sound awesome compared to a 66, and they don't half give Welsh locos wired names which are in unpronoucable words oh and of course I forgot they like to shag sheep
