Let's be honest here. Lebanese youths have been tearing Sydney up for years and years and not just at Cronulla. I remember them robbing and bashing people in the carpark of castle towers shopping centre after late night shopping, people had to be dropped at their cars by security in golf carts for shit sake. The whole population of Sydney had this built up frustration and tension and that is what came out in the Cronulla riots. This was not just about a few muppets coming out on the train to act out at the beach...
@burtongrimes2227 Жыл бұрын
Not all Lebanese though bro. Look there’s some fuckewits out there no doubt but of all races. I had the mentality years ago when all this shit was happening that all Lebanese people were like this. Let’s just say I’ve completely changed my way of thinking. I know and have some really good Lebanese mates. The best guys you’ll ever meet.

I lived in Liverpool for 25years and I found majority of the Lebanese I met thru my work were racist especially towards Asians & Australians, These mouthy grubs were great in numbers. I was living in Cronulla prior to this happening. For ages they used to come down 50 strong, 10 x WRX’s with 5 dudes, prowling around in groups of 2 cars. They would corner a couple of locals and then text their location, what hope did a couple of dudes have against that many???
@Modem2231 Жыл бұрын
Nobody tells this side of the story. I'm happy that the part about these guys coming into town belting kids and hassling girls finally got out. I was in my early twenties by the time the riots happened, but had been bashed many times by car loads of Middle Eastern gangs coming out. We were normally in groups of 2-3 and as soon as you saw a WRX drive past you'd run. The Bra Boys used to do the same whenever they'd surf down in Cronulla. A lot of them were bullies with a few decent ones in there, but they had a culture of being tough guys. We didn't have that in Cronulla, not many of us felt the need to prove ourselves by getting into fights.

Yeah, back then, it was the gang bashings and gang rapes that really triggered it. I remember a remorseless group talking about how the victim deserved what she got because she wore a skirt. People in Australia that didn't want to respect the Australian way of life and took advantage of the layer back attitude and the weak in society. Sad it turned the way it did though where good people became victims because of the actions of a few.

I was 19 when the riots happened and lived most my life on the Northern Beaches.... I have since moved into the Canterbury Bankstown catchment area and can confirm Lebs can be really sharp and pompous. In all honesty I do not feel unsafe here as I mind my own business and I am big enough to handle my self and I am a strong believer in a persons right to defend themselves with extreme violence hard and fast. But there was all this shit from the Skaf gang rapes to constant bad press around Lebs and middle easterners on the constant. Be it poor business dealings from uncles who are builders or shonky work and sales blah blah... I have made a few friends in the older school Lebanese and there are some great ones. But the rural families who settled here from Lebanon have some serious deep rooted issues. Of course a few generations down the line the system will unkink most of the community.
@gus6910 Жыл бұрын
The younger Lebanese people are still comming to Cronulla and causeing issues. Just yesterday I was at north cronulla and a young female lifesaver (15) was getting harrased by a group of lebs. Its hard to see them getting checked these days considering half the people that live in the shire these days are new to the area and probably 80% plus of the people at the beach arn't from the area and arn't even aussie.

Cronulla then wasn’t like it was in the 70s & 80s when there were loosely affiliated groups of surfer mates like the Bra Boys Cronulla is a different animal, mainly because there’s no social housing, it’s on the train line & there’s a large turnover of people now, most people are all middle class, working & can’t be fucked getting involved with things like that

A lot if it was hard to check as they alway had overwhelming numbers… There were plenty of brawls up the mall in the 90’s, but it was hard to stop them coming in roving packs. They were well co-ordinated and would always go for 1 or 2 guys… I remember walking through the bowlo one night and crossing up through the units, not even half an hour later some bloke was doing the same thing, two cars stopped him, 10 guys smashed him. That kind of thing was a common occurence, how could it have been stopped?
