WAYNE CLEVELAND - THE STORY (MAROUBRA)

Wayne grew up in the housing commissions of Maroubra in the 1970's. He says there were only 2 ways you could go from there, either an elite athlete or an elite criminal. Wayne ended up being both.
He fell in love with the ocean at a young age and became a professional big wave surfer, surfing all over the world. He was an adrenaline junkie who kept wanting more and ended up going down the wrong path.

Good on him, what a great turn around. Some times when you're in the cycle, wheels going so fast, you loose sight of the bigger picture. But once it all crashes in on you, you get to look from the outside in, and hopefully you realise, eventually life of crime will always catch up on you. Some are lucky enough to make the right decision and survive and move forwards positively. No more looking over your shoulders!!! Good luck to him, and good on him for becoming an example to many others

Some of us have been in those cold dark places with ourselves. Have everything going positively for ourselves. Yes, I was one of those that were inquisitive about jumping that fence(not as hardcore like the brother here). It takes a long time to get out of and repair the damage. Obviously he was looking for the quick buck, but having kids and doing that is not on, he should have known better, Christ he was already blessed with 4 kids... he was already rich. Nobody was asked to be born, I come from 2 broken homes with a father that bashed me. I’m adopted so I have 2 families I don’t need tones of money I’m already rich. Some people really piss me off, they don’t know what living an average life is even like. I mean look at where he did the interview. Drug dealing absolutely isn't a victimless crime. Not only people ODing to the drugs being moved, but what about all the countries the drugs are sourced from and all the innocent people that die due to the drug trade there just so aussies/europeans/americans can have more fun on a Saturday. That being said, there is something admirable about turning your life around. So I think this guy is pretty great and think he can inspire a lot of people.

I lost two of my little brothers to overdose in two years he’s not bragging he’s telling a cautionary tale to hopefully deter the younger guys coming up! The reality is they come from a impoverished place where there aren’t many options he’s showing the younger ones what happens when u chose the wrong path I think he’s doing smthg super important!!
