I think it's also worth pointing out that the traditional big sewing pattern companies also include bra patterns. It's not just indie designers, many of whom do a really excellent job, but some of whom are simply not qualified to do the pattern drafting well in the wide range of sizes that a bra requires.

Thank you very much for another informative video. I have been making my own bras for at least 8 years and have tweaked my pattern several times until I got the perfect fit. But it is a pattern w/o underwire (from Kwik Sew). I have tried an underwired pattern from B. Johnson and took a bra making class many years ago. But I could never get this pattern to fit me well so I put it aside. But I am back working on it now and am determined to get it to fit properly. I think my problem was not having the correct underwire size. I have n ones on order and this new size of underwire will probably make the difference. I am inspired by the beautiful lacy fabric you use and the variety of pattern available out there. Thanks for sharing all that information. It is absolutely inspiring and you are definitely making a bra-maker out of me.

I just found you yesterday via your Maya bra tutorial as I delve into trying bra making. I know how to make clothes, learning undies and bags and want to make my own and some for my larger breasted mum and sister. I will start searching for other bra patterns once I master this Maya bra so I have an idea what pattern style I want to try. Question: have you found any bra patterns with fasteners at the front for those larger breasted people?

What a great video. It's a really nice overview. Not just for myself but also if I want to make something for my friends. I also really appreciate that you mentioned the whole pattern copying. It's really sad. The only thing I am a little surprised about is that you didn't mention the Madalynne patterns as they are fairly popular too. As always a huge thank you 😊

I don't know if Madalynne's actual bra patterns are that popular. She mostly designs bralettes and they're mostly only suitable for a very small range os sizes (basically, people shaped like Madalynne).

Oh thank you so much for this! I’ve only made Madalynne bralettes and bras but I’m a 34DD so I struggle with her patterns as they just aren’t supportive enough for me but they’re very cute. Looking forward to trying some new patterns from other designers!

I’ve had little success with the BCD system which is disheartening. Her Classic, before the re-sizing , fits me well which is a relief. I’ve had success with Orange Lingerie patterns

BCD didn’t work for me either but I know what wire size most patterns put me in so that got me in the ballpark

@@LizSews I’m trying to fit the PUG Shelley and I am having the same issue. At least the wire size fit me to cups that gave me enough coverage even though the seam lines are way to high because I have a small bcd.
