I always learn something new from these videos. Today, it was a big "Doh" moment when you sandwiched the strap inside the top band elastic. That looks SO much nicer than the way I've been just stitching the strap on afterwards.

Thanks Liz for this new episode of the Maya bra. I seem to be your first viewer! I particularly like the tip about cutting the foam w/o the seam allowance at the under-arm section to reduce the bulk. I should try that. I have not yet tried making a bra with foam yet but I will keep that in mind. And thanks for the suggestion of sandwiching the bra strap inside the top band elastic. I should try that too. Normally I have the strap going over the whole width of the band. Something new to try.

Another great video Liz! Looks like you just reached 12K subscribers ... Congrats!!! My first attempt is a bit of a hot mess, but seems it is to be expected (one cup got sewed together inside out and getting a straight seam on the channeling is a challenge) but learning a lot! Ended-up with microduoplex for my first try and have since ordered duoplex and SoFine thread ... hopefully that will make life a little easier. I'll need to make a few minor adjustments to the cups and appears I may need a different style/size underwire. I saw you recommended Jennifer Fairbank's Bare Essentials book in the comments section of a prior video so that got ordered today and hopefully will help with fitting. Off to a reasonably good start! ❤

At 17:00 when you trim the band so it is the same size as the closure plus the elastic... what would you do if the band was narrower than the closure plus the elastic? Your videos are so super helpful!!

If you’ve made your band to short the only option is to find a shorter hook and eye.

Hi Liz....I do not like to wear bras with underwires could I just leave them out? or would I be better off with a different pattern. I have never made a bra before but your videos look excellent!

It’s better to start with a wireless pattern as the structure of the bra is different for wired bras

well thats a really cool video series and really niche that i found it online because i wanna make a bra and slip as a gift for my Girlfriend. but i definetly dont know annything about bras. So i have two questions. First: is the Bra wire really neccesary, and Two: do i really need the foam or is it optional. i'm sorry if the questions are maybe a little dump but as i said im a bloody beginner in sewing Ladie-underwear. annyway thanks for the videos you've created. They are really great and really helpful for me. Thank you.

You need the wire if your using a pattern designed for a wire. The shape and design of a wireless pattern is very different. The foam is optional, for most of my bras I use a sheer cup lining instead of foam for a lighter feel. I tend to always use some sort of lining because it helps clean up the insides but if you’re using a strong enough material like Duoplex then you don’t even need to line it

Do you have a Tip for me where i can get a free pattern for a Wireless bra or does this pattern might also work without the wire? Because this bra should be only some type of bed-bra. Cause she like sleeping with a bra, Dont ask me why idk, so i thougt it would maybe also work without the wire. Annyways thank you for your time

Great job! Generally, what size and width is your serpentine stitch for the band elastic?

It’s different for every machine so I would practice on scraps till you get the dimensions you like but I set mine to 4 wide and 1.5 long
