Anybody else at that point in their life that they have told themselves that? We are young at heart and refuse to be consumed by the fact that we are aging and our time is getting limited and precious few. Forever young. We watched our parents do the same, then boom, here we are, it's our turn in the barrel. Great piece of music. RIP Toby

I think the old man is the old man or old person, inside us all. Speaking for myself only, I think maybe it could also represent the cancer he had. I know that he wrote the song for Clint Eastwood, and I know he wrote it before he knew he had cancer, but the lyrics to me, sound fitting in his situation, battling the cancer. My dad passed from cancer too, and I remember very clearly a time when I asked him about how he was so brave and strong going through it. He said some things along the same lines as the song. He told me he refused to let the cancer change how he lived his life. He said “I still get up every morning, and do the same routines and live each day just the same as I did before I found out I had cancer”. And he did !! He stuck to that philosophy, right up until the day he passed away. I’ve never forgotten that, and when I heard Toby’s song for the first time, it made me think of that conversation with dad. Toby will be missed beyond measure. Thank you for reacting to this one. I believe Toby’s live performance of this song for the awards show, was his last live stage performance. May he rest in peace and God bless his family.

Clint Eastwood was directing and acting in his movie at 88 yrs old a few years ago. Toby asked him how he did it. Clint said “I don’t let the old man in” so Tobie wrote the song which was used in the movie.

He knew his days were numbered. And the great songwriter he was, he shared what I believe will become an iconic song. Sweet passage, Toby. Your time on earth was a gift to us all. Blessed be.

Toby wrote the song for his friend Clint Eastward, Toby ask Clint what makes a person live a long life. Toby finished the song towards the end of his last movie Clint included in his movie, (The Mule). Then when Toby sang at the CMT awards they asked him to sing it verse an upbeat song. He only lived 4 months longer it was if he was telling everyone the end was near.

Toby is from my hometown ❤️🤍💙 All of his successes and he never moved out of The Moore/Norman area. Our last big Tornado, 2013, He put together some big names, to help the town with cost. A true American Hero 🙏🤍😢Would you please react to Toby Keith "Bullets in the gun" "American soldier" and "crying for me". His song "crying for me" He wrote about his friend who was OU basketball legend when he passed away. I really hope you will thank you so much. I always enjoy your reactions.

It song speaks right now how Toby Keith was possibly feeling before he passed on 2.5.24. I read that he got the idea and words for this song years ago when he was with his friend Clint Eastwood. Clint added it to his movie The Mule. Back then the song was not that well known or popular. I feel now that Toby has passed, it speaks to people who loved him and his music. Toby sang this song at his last stage appearance last year, with his wife crying in the audience. When you see that video, Toby no longer the big robust man, but so thin and haggard looking, it makes you sad, and I cried watching that video of him singing. His voice was still strong. You could see his emotions on his face as he sang it. He knew already the end was coming. In an interview he gave not long before he passed, he said he had his head wrapped around things and he was ready. God bless you Toby Keith. Rest in peace cowboy.

The song don't let the old man in chokes me up because it's so true. When were young we don't think of it when it comes your time you have no choice I remember when I was a little girl I said to my father he wasabout 40 years old then I said Dad are you afraid to die he said not really so then as the years passed . I said Dad are you afraid to die? He said, now that my time has come I really don't want to go! That's why this song is so popular it was so meaningful to Toby Keith he got very emotional but I think the whole world did too at that time I thought if Toby ycould make 5 years he would be just fine how quick life can turn around when you least expect it rest in peace Toby we all have to face the reality. You were courageous and a role model when you needed it you are truly America and American Patriot.🇺🇸🎇🙏

The clips are from Clint Eastwoods 2018 movie 'The Mule'. When Toby sang it in live in September 2023, he was receiving the 'Peoples Choice Country Icon Award' & it was so moving. He was thin & frail & barely recognizable & it was hard to watch. That being said, I have rewatched it several times since we lost him last week. My heart is broken. He was the best.

The song says to me you are becoming your parents or if you have no parents your elders. Life goes by too quick and old age and struggles sneak on us one way or another. Don’t let it if at all possible keep moving every day.
