My 10 month old British Bulldog died after this surgery. The swelling did not go down and he developed Pneumonia. His condition was very bad though, vet said wothout the surgery he would not have made it past the summer. So we were only doing what we thought was best for our sweet boy. We miss him so so much. 😢

Sorry for your loss. My buddy’s breathing is bad but I would like to think I’m overreacting.

for this very reason, we should question our ethics to breed pets that will certainly suffer for their life

Hello. I have an 11 year old shih tzu. Until this age, she had no obvious problems other than snoring. However, she has been making noises in her throat for 2-3 months. I know the surgery is difficult and painful. How much longer can she handle? Can we not do it after this age? Also what can we do when she is chocked up? Can you make a first aid video about it?
@theralphvet Жыл бұрын
Hi there, It sounds like your Shih Tzu could benefit from seeing your vet at your daytime practice with a view to investigating the noises in her throat. If she does need BOAS or any procedure, they can answer any questions you may have. Good luck with your little lady. Best wishes Team Ralph

Genuine question - why do people pay money to have these things? Do think it's worth it because they're cute and spunky? Do they not know?

Can you perform surgery without increasing nasal passages. Some look really big after surgery…

Hi there, yes you can, but I would recommend discussing your requirements directly with your Veterinary Surgeon and they can best advice after examining your pet. Best wishes, Team Ralph.

My american bully snoring when he is sleeping......is it due to this syndrome????
@theralphvet11 ай бұрын
Hi there, thank you for raising the question for your doggo. Snoring at rest can be (but is not always) a clinical sign of BOAS. For peace of mind, we'd recommend that you ask your usual vet to assess your dog so that you have their professional opinion. Team Ralph 🐾

Buy only animals that have undergone BOAS tests with 0 or grade I results, walk the dog several times a day (one of the walks should be an hour long) and do not overfeed the dog. These dogs need more muzzle and less protruding eyes. I love the pug but am careful about buying a health tested dog without breathing problems

I’m so nervous that my dog may have this she’s 1.5 years old and going to get spayed soon but I would hate to have her go through this operation, it sounds terrible and sour , and then I have the trust issue that is it another vet made up operation for these dogs that have always sounded like this anyway for the money , ?!?! I guess I have to weigh it out , I’m so confused There is so many pros and cons advices on the internet and also about raw food or science diet another guess for me , again I’m just a concerned owner of my love of my life frenchie and trying to do the best thing for her

My Boston Terrier is suffering from this but I can't afford the thousands that it cost for the surgery. I think I might have to put her to sleep since she can not rest anymore.

These surgeries don’t have a great success rate.

Still better than doing nothing when the animal is struggling to breathe.
