No do not put King in the backline. Back him in to the job he is there to do. He just needs a good injury free pre-season and some confidence. Sharman at FF Max at CF. Sharman leads out better. Hopefully the kicks inside 50 will be cleaner this season with Max in and not just bombing it high.

I honestly think King just needs a good run of consistent game time - throwing him around in different positions would do more harm than good. We saw with Josh Battle that he made massive improvements when he was given a consistent job to do. And in regards to the Forward line functioning I think that's more about the rest of the team not becoming too Max centric. In other news, who's bulk ordering the viking helmets for Taru's debut?

I think a lot of people have already said this but I believe King‘s best position will be half forward, he can play more as a Nick Revolt type and get more time with ball in hand. It’ll still allow him to get plenty of shots at goal but being a confidence player I feel like he would flourish in that role being on the ball more

Well worth picking up Harry Boyd and just throw him into the fray to see if he can mix it well at AFL Level. If he does, Ro can play mainly up forward and that proposition is very exciting. Max Heath is nearly there but may still be a bit green for 2025.

It's a common narrative told time and time again re our forward line functioning better without King. Agree with your previous assessment Jakey, our forward line functions better when our mids aren't bombing the ball inside 50, as well as when we don't have our Max King blinkers on. Slot King into the forward line that we began to see at the tail end of last season, including a more cohesive midfield/forward link up, and he'll have a massive year.

The Saints should be honoring their commitment to sign a Sandringham Zebra player to that spot. The Board/Club committed to that, and in spite of having the opportunity to match a bid AND draft Adrien Cole but chose not to. In keeping a great development program and relationship with your reserves side, you would think the club would honour that.

i always had great confidence in Brad Crouch. It is a pity he cannot play on. Would be good for the Saints to find a position for him or recommend him for another. Max King should be centre half forward as he is a great long distance target.

Damn! Now I have to make another coffee. The loss of Brad Crouch is a real shame. On Max, my take is keep him busy, keep him moving. If he gets too much time to think, he becomes too self-conscious. Just keep Max settled and productive. He adds value if played into a game. Sure, he needs to understand his role, but I sense it might be good to play him less isolated in the square and give him movement. Its a balance between getting him involved by shifting and having him not be settled anywhere to own his space and role. Probably more half-forward would be my initial thought.

I love Kingy but his set shots are so so maybe if the ball gets delivered better he would be too. Sharman is the best set shot at the club in my opinion. Ben King kills it down back so its always worth a try in match sim practice games etc. Interesting to see how he goes.

Brereton not known for having original ideas. I suggested this in August last year on Saintsational as did others, Garry Lyon put it out on The couch - all based on the success of Lobb moved to key back. With Membrey gone who knows how it will play out but surely it’s not a crazy idea ? I still want to see it happen to be honest. Go saints
