I’ve had my son write himself a letter once a year since he turned 10 & he’s 13 now. He seals them and I box em up. I will give them to him when he’s much older 💖 Wish my parents would of had me do it. What a wonderful gift!

I flipped this, I've written my son's a letter each year on their birthday, I'm giving my oldest his in 5 years when he's 30, my youngest is 15, so I've got a few years yet for him. I think they'll appreciate them then.

The ending with Brad I think was MORP, (backwards Prom) and he got crowned king. It’s where the MORP court dresses up and tries to impress people to become MORP King. Less fancy than Prom. Lol. I’m from the Same HS as Brad (graduated much later). My parents went as well and my aunt was in a grade below Brad. Love your reaction to the video!

Thank you for doing this one. I am class of ‘89 so can definitely relate to the words of hindsight wisdom. I guess it’s good I can’t write that letter to myself because that butterfly effect would definitely be going as it would be difficult to knowingly allow some of the scarring moments in my life occur happen. But if they didn’t, I wouldn’t be where I am and of benefit to others for those character building moments. But I do try to do the next best thing, and attempt to pass on my “letter” to my mini me’s, aka my children. Lol! Would like to say it was always successful, but I sure try. 😊

This was the only song that I first heard when I was the age being described. I have no personal memories about Skoal cans and Playboys under my bed, but it helped put things into perspective. I didn't have any romance to speak of, but the knife in my back felt very real. The feelings at 17 are real, but hearing the future you say It'll be alright could mean the world.

I am a month late but my letter to 17 year old me... This year is going to change your life. It will push you to your very last limits. But, it won't rule you. Hug that baby girl you have for as long as you can because, 3 days really isn't enough to last all the days you don't have her. You're going to lose a lot of people in your life this year...don't worry they were there for season and seasons fade. Falling Brian our childhood friend proves to be one of the best things to ever happen. 4 kids and 19 years later you know the meaning of unconditional love in every single way.

I would tell my 17 year old self to ask for help. I needed it, but my teenaged pride wouldn’t let me ask. And as a result I dropped out of high school. I did eventually get my GED, but my one regret in life is not graduating from high school in 2004 like I should have. So, if anyone else is reading this and is struggling, whether it be academically, emotionally, mentally, etc., ask for help. You won’t regret it, even if it’s hard to do. My 8 year old’s teacher always tells the kids, “we can do hard things.” It’s true, we can do hard things, and we’re better for it.

Man...bro...this hits me. I would tell myself to be more patient with my Dad. He was in a motorized wheelchair at the time, and I was having to do a lot of the yard work and other stuff, and as a teenage boy, I just wanted to go out with my friends. I would give him hell, and be so selfish. When I got older, I realized he was teaching me, and making me a better person. I'm just glad I learned it and was able to tell him before he passed 2 years ago from ALS. Much love brother.

I wouldn't write a letter. I wouldn't want to change a thing. Even one small thing could've made it to where I didn't meet my wife and have my girls and I wouldn't trade that for anything. There was a LOT of hardship and struggle before any of that transpired but I would go through it all countless times to have my family...

I would have written: I know it's hard right now. I know the bullying seems like it will never stop. But I swear it gets better. You get to leave that small, close minded town and never look back. You get to see so much of the world you never imagined you would. And it's still hard sometimes but you're strong enough and smart enough to make it through. Also, don't listen to what that awful teacher said. She's bad at her job, and you're more than smart enough for college. The diploma on my wall and membership in a college honors society is proof of that. PS. Hug Mama Dorothy every chance you get. And Lucky.

I'm only a couple years out of high school but some things that I know already that I'd write to myself at 17 is to be less shy and to push myself more in sports and to not take them for granted, because it really did go by too fast. I would love another chance to be under the lights on Friday, run out onto the basketball court, or to take to the baseball diamond. I suppose that's why I'm one of them that suggesting Kenny chessneys "boys of fall" and "I go back"

I would tell me myself to slow down and take in every moment especially with my Papa (Dad). I would tell myself don't to be impatient in love and don't worry about it. That it would find me when I was ready. I would tell myself to not take every thing so serious, I would have went to a few more parties, and skipped school a few times. I would tell myself one day I would have two people (daughters) who would love me unconditionally through it all. I would tell myself that life would be sweeter on the back side to never give up on my dreams and always stay positive. Most importantly I would tell myself to love MYSELF more.

Dear 17 year old me, I know it's hard to ignore the bullies, but high school will soon be over and behind you. Get C.J.'s phone number. You never know what might happen if you do. Be aware that your best friend, Michelle is being two-faced and bad mouthing you behind your back. Everything you tell her in confidence is being spread far and wide, fueling the bullies. You can do better for friends. Wait a year or two to start college. You aren't ready for it yet and will struggle so badly that it will sour you on the college experience until you are in your thirties. Instead, intern at an architectural firm until you can cut it at school and then choose a university out of state to escape the infantile HS bullies that seem to follow you everywhere in town. But the internship is the MOST important thing to do since that experience will help you secure employment later in life. Try to eat healthier, hard as that might seem given your circumstances. Trust me when I tell you that your weight issues will only get worse as you get older and it will affect your healing from an upcoming auto accident. As soon as it is given to you, have Grandpa's car put into your name and pay your own insurance. It will keep it out of the hands of the person who blew the engine because he was too stupid to stop when the oil light started blinking!! Even YOU know what that means!! Finally, don't let anyone steal your sunshine. There are a lot of people trying to push you down right now. Don't let them succeed. Push back however you feel you need to. Be brave, even if the only person hearing you roar is the face looking back at you in the bathroom mirror.

Billy, long time watcher man, first time request: Check out Unanswered Prayers by Garth Brooks. He's a country legend without a doubt and this is one of his songs that flies below the radar but is low key incredible.

I'd be afraid that I would change some. Everything in life happened exactly as it was supposed to. But if I could and it would NOT change anything, I'd tell myself put down the alcohol and that I AM enough.
