Try too hard to focus on the desired end result, and you won't see the simple little things that will help you like bonding over a conversation, even if they don't respond with too many words. The goal is reconnect those ties that drew you both together in the first place (even if it's bonding over someone you both mutually don't like). It's hard to see when you're in the thick of it, and I'd be lying if I said I'm not freaking out every time I send a text to her in fear I say something wrong. I'm assuming your ex didn't fall in love with you for being a broken heart, clingy, and unconfident in yourself? I know my ex didn't, and me being depressed and apologizing for every little thing wasn't helping anyone. As hard as it is you gotta keep your cool. It's not so much as convincing them to take you back as much as finding that confidence and charisma you had when you first started dating your ex. If you can do that, and direct that confidence in their direction they'll start gravitating back little by little. It's difficult, and when you're right there trying to figure out even a simple conversation starter, you have to put yourself in that mindset that even though you know your ex, you have to look at it as a brand new relationship. That means hitting a 'reset' button so to speak. Flirt, be cheesy, do whatever it is that makes you you, and with no small amount of effort you should start seeing a glimpse of that bond you had before. The fact is, every relationship has arguments and 1 problem or another so getting hung up on "are they mad/upset" or worrying about messing up isn't the real focus more as making your previously badass self better, more refined and experienced.

Your best bet is still to cut off contact completely for around a month or even more in order to clear your heads. You'd increase your chances of getting your ex back if you've got your sh*t together than if you were doing the opposite of the no contact rule which is begging/pleading or negotiating/trying to woo your ex again. Well, there are a few rare who take their exes back if you beg/plead but it hardly ever lasts since these people are taking their exes back out of pity. So my point is, don't let your ex take you back out of pity, all right? The best way to avoid that is to work on yourself and get your life together by having fun, hobbies, etc. and to stop chasing your ex. I used a reverse psychology comment but not so blunt as what you suggest Brad. Fun fact, it usually takes people half the time of the relationship to truly get over you. So if you've been dating 7 years and only just broken up it'll take him an absolute minimum of 1 year to really be over you. In other words, you did the no contact for a while which was good! It seemed to be working, but then you must have come across too eager and that's why he's pulled away again. You need to have faith that IF!!! you're relationship was reasonably healthy and if you have not bothered him too much, he will probably find some weird way to reach out again soon. By weird I mean he might ask you something totally pointless, but the key is that he's instigating conversation. It could take several months...forget the counting the days. Try to workout why the relationship broke down and work on urself. Once ure honest with urself you will start to exhibit sexy and positive vibes again! As long as your means of communication are still open you stand a chance, don't keep bothering him until you eventually get blocked basically! If you think the relationship is salvageable and there's just a little misunderstanding going on, then you can try to discuss is calmly with her. But remember, the thing is, if you've already been broken up with, the dumper is usually not in a position to "discuss" things with you. Besides that, BOTH you and your ex's emotions run high during this moment and a few days or even weeks following the breakup, which is why I advise my viewers and clients alike to follow the "no contact" rule so as not to make things worse.

Not sure what you meant by not being a great boyfriend to her, but if you do have to make some changes, then do it for yourself and never for anyone else, okay? See, making changes for the sake of someone is considered seeking validation, and that's an unattractive trait in and of itself… so it naturally won't do anything to rebuild the attraction necessary to get your ex back. My sons father, my bf of 11yrs broke up w me the week of our justice of the peace wedding. He wants to move out next month. He was completely infatuated w me for the passed few months. Sorry to hear that. I wouldn't say it's cold feet for sure, it's just weird how stuff played out. It may be time to put things into perspective because in 14 years spent as a relationship coach, I find that a breakup is often NOT just one person's fault, so look at the roles that you've BOTH played that led to the breakup and if the issues have a chance to get resolved, and how to go about it. In most cases, the problems that led to the breakup can be resolved, but in some cases, it can't. So take time to evaluate, okay? However, I have to warn you not to ask the reasons from your ex. My ex (who dumped me) just texted my best friend asking if I will ever want to hear from her again, he said that he can't speak for me but thought that I would want to hear from her (which is true.) she then responded by saying "I know I made this decision but that doesn't make it easy. I am worried if I reach out that he will resent me. I would only be doing it with good intentions because I care about him a lot but I also don't want to make anything harder for him either." Alan Schmidt ok here’s my opinion on that. If they gotta go to a friend to see if they’ll talk to you, that’s just crap. If they have the balls and really care about you they’ll do it. That’s just my take on it.
