An excellent analysis. Schneider is one of my "long shots". Indeed Schneider is an excellent complement for an offensive D. My comparison goes back several years and I see a Lyle Odelein. I like the comment that this type of defender is an important ingredient for a seriously competitive team. If my Habs cross the qualifying round, Schneider would be my choice. I like the maturity of his game and he also has the ability to change the course of a game with a solid hit. Thank you, very good video. 👍

Nicholas Chamoun - If MTL comes out in the first two rounds it will be 16. Schneider would be a great choice, but his value is rising. Jarvis is also very impressive. I think Bergevin will make aggressive trade proposals for quality instead of quantity picks. Many observers forget that you can protect only 7 players for the expansion draft and you must offer two eligible players.

@@danielmontreal007 What do you think of the Habs picking Kaiden Guhle?
@danielmontreal0074 жыл бұрын
Iceteazer - The more we observe Guhle the more we can appreciate him. He finished 12th on my list. Not in a hurry with him, he will have time to complete his development. If Sanderson is an A + Guhle is an A. Bergevin has been doing a lot of good work for 3 years.

Glad you pointed out the value of a good shutdown defenceman with high hockey IQ. Some people seem to think they're worth a bag of pucks and can never get past the defenceman's offensive statistics. Some examples: I felt the old Senators never hit their playoff stride until Chris Phillips and Anton Volchenkov regularly started shutting down their opponents' top lines. Also, when Erik Karlsson was at his best it seemed to be with the high IQ and defensively conscious Marc Methot. I'm eyeing Guhle, Schnieder or a similar type player with the Sens' NYI first round pick - should they still be available.
@DraftDynasty14 жыл бұрын
Good example with Methot and Karlsson. Methot was not a top 4 but he was able to help Karlsson let loose and play his game. Almost won a cup with that pairing.
@OttawaRocks4 жыл бұрын
@@DraftDynasty1 Exactly. And in Marc Methot's entire career, he has been effective against top lines of other teams. As a junior he helped the London Knights win the Memorial Cup when he shut down Crosby's Oceanic. Of course, in the Sens 2017 playoff run he was effective against both Crosby & Malkin. If the Habs go on a run this year they will need Weber to anchor them.

Lots of talent but I don't see how he could be viable at 5vs5. I don't mind smaller forwards. But smaller defenceman it's hard.. they need to be elite skater. Unfortunately, I don't think he has that type of skating. More of a late draft pick for me. I think his game might translate better to Euro hockey (Liiga, NLA, SHL) compare to AHL or NHL.

Thanks so much once again buddy. You say his ceiling is bottom pairing, but a good partner for an offensive smaller Dman. How would he look in the top four with one of Brannstrom or Chabot potentially? Emil Andrae get my vote for the next one. Can't wait!
@DraftDynasty14 жыл бұрын
I think he's a very good fit for Chabot and Brannstrom. That's why I'm still going to have him first round. He's more of a D5-6# but he might very well play top 4 mins and be the perfect fit for a more dynamic offensive minded D. He will bring some leadership too.. he's got the Shea Weber vibe. It's a good thing because the Sens will be young so you need players with good head on their shoulders.
@helmedon4 жыл бұрын
He won't be there, but I would love to see Detroit take him in the 2nd . Pair him with Seider, who is as already showing why Yzerman took him in the 1st. I like Guhle as well.

Surprised that you consider Schneider as the toughest player in the draft, or toughest defensemen in the draft. I would say only among the 1st round candidates. I think if I were a team looking for this type of defenseman, I would probably not pick Schneider with a 1st or 2nd round pick, but go after guys like Nikishin, Mcnelly, Bauer... with late round picks. I agree, that with the 1st round you have to go with bigger upside.
@DraftDynasty14 жыл бұрын
Nikishin would be in my top 3 for the most physical player that should go top 100. Nikishin got some really nice tools.. it's a shame he's not a very smart player. He could be very good.

Love the review, like that he's NHL ready with the size but surprised you said his ceiling is a bottom pair guy. I'd be shocked if he isn't at least a #4 in 3-4 years. He does give me some Gudbranson vibes but feel if he continues to work on his skating, he will be a decent defenseman. As a FLA fan, we have 12th overall, he is definitely on the list for us. Would be okay to have him as a potential replacement to Weegar, he can slot in behind Ekblad as the 2nd pair RD. Maybe FLA will trade back a couple spots to 15th-16th, snag a 2nd in exchange and still draft him there.
@DraftDynasty14 жыл бұрын
Not many good D available this year. It's possible that guys like Guhle and Schneider go pretty early in the draft for that reason. I would say he's going to be between a #4-6. Feels like he's the type of player that will be in the NHL for a lot of years. Could be valuable to have a D #4-6 for 15 years.

One thing people have to remember is that Brandon was very badly coached for the past 4 seasons with a very negative style of play. This is the first year that they have had a proper coach since mccrimmon left for Vegas. He has really grown up this season under the guidance of Dave Lowry. His hands need work but I think his east to west movement has really improved and will only get better. He’s not the type to get lots of points but that not to say he can’t be a second pairing defender in the nhl. I believe people are definitely sleeping on him.

10:25 - 10:49 "And if every single year you're choosing the safer option, safer route...well you're kinda missing out on every year to get your star." That's the Rangers in the draft for nearly 20 years. It's basically the same cast of characters in the front office prioritizing drafting essentially role players with limited to no ceiling than drafting the talent on the board, then wondering why they could not win a cup with Lundqvist. It's the same proverbial drafting methods every single season - gritty 3rd-4th liners or d-men who can chip in here and there adding nothing else much hoping to luck out with a few picks.

Yeah, and now they have star power with Zibanejad, Panarin, Kakko, and Lafreniere. You need role players to compliment your star players, can't have a team of 100% skill players i.e. Toronto
@miky96194 жыл бұрын
@@DraftDynasty1 It's not whether they are in great shape NOW because half of that came from having a few veterans to trade at past deadlines or lucking out with the top two overall picks, it's the constant decision by management of trading for average young talent at said deadlines or reaching for players who were drafted rounds before they should have or they shouldn't have been drafted at all; pay close attention to their two 7th and 8th overall first rounders in the '17 and '18 drafts and the young players they got back in Mcdonough deal with the Lighting, the fanbase and org seem to have already soured on those four players and they were our future and three are still in our pipeline. This is what most who are unfamiliar with the rangers or rangers fans who are too young are blinded by when looking at the talent pool. They see young players, players, players but don't see between all of this the front office's dull and unimaginative approach to every trade or draft - get player or veteran who play a 200 ft game work the boards with nothing else in between...yes, they had guys who were goal scorers but how many homegrown players REALLY stood out in a rangers uniform? Now this current pool have players standing out in their respective pro leagues overseas compared to their draft position but how many is going to break the mold and standout as real assets to the team not just average cookie cutter ranger past?
@miky96194 жыл бұрын
@@thatguywatchingyou17 They don't have 100% skill. The other 70% are young players ranger fans are HOPING to become but as of now are no where close what the Leafs have now. From a Rangers world standpoint, fans who were deprived of exciting stick handling and goal scoring for decades, yea, Z-Bad and Bread are all world but to other fans around the league, it's nothing they haven't seen before. This is why management should not draft like they have nothing but studs on their team cause they don't and even if they didn't why go into the draft to go for untalented players instead just raw talent. You already have your workers...get some raw talent and mold them in the system into complete players not role players in the 2nd and 3rd rounds with no ceiling.
