that fight scene with Dumbledore and Voldemort at the end is probably my favorite scene from all of the films. The choice to not have any background music, the sound design on the effects, excellent. Love it. This film is a big turning point in the series towards the serious story now. It's life or death now.

I love the scene where they all form Dumbledore’s Army! Luna’s “Is it true that you can peform a patronus charm” was such a nice addition. It was her clever and creative way of diffusing the situation, moving the conversation back to the topic and making them all aware of how talented Harry actually is. Really great line and just goes to show why she’s in Ravenclaw!

Something that I don't think is mentioned in the films, is that Mrs Figg (the old lady that sees the dementors) is a Squib! A Squib is someone born to magical parents, but with no magical powers. Despite not being magical herself, she's in the Order of the Phoenix and was directed by Dumbledore to look out for Harry while he was still is Little Whinging. This is why she can see the dementors whereas Muggle's can't. Argus Filch (the caretaker) is a Squib too! Also, I'm glad this film includes some of Harry's sass, but it really doesn't scratch the surface... He is so sassy and funny in the books. Edit- turns out that I worded this comment badly lol. Mrs Figg doesn't actually see them on this occasion (she - as you said - just knew enough about them to know they were present). Dudley thought Harry did used magic on him cuz muggles can't see the Dementors, so isn't really his fault that he thinks it was Harry. In the books Harry explains that it was dementors and aunt Petunia is the first to believe him because she was told by Lily and James what they are. She was also told by them they are guards of Azkaban the prison from the magical world, so when Harry told them that Petunia was like: it's true. Lily talked about those things that guard Azkaban. Aunt Petunia proceeds to explain to Vernon that dementors suck your happiness out (also told by Lily when she explained dementors) that's why Dudley was like that. Hermione accidentally called Luna Lovegood "Loony Lovegood" wich is the mean name her bullies use to hurt her. "Loony" is how people call someone who is weird/ different/ crazy and it's used is real life to offend people as well. Is not very common so I get why you didn't notice. Hagrid's brother, Grope, is actually very innocent and he doesn't speak English very well. (giants usually don't speak English, but Hagrid is teaching him) he LOVES Hagrid. He says his name wrong tho. Something like "wagrid" I think. Luna is a very kind girl (with both animals and people) and, yeah, she might be a bit different but there's nothing wrong with that.... kids are just mean. Luna is on the same year as Ginny Weasley and they are best friends. After chamber of secrets when people find out Ginny was the one in the chamber they started to push her away. Some people thought that either she was helping Voldemort on purpose or that there was something wrong with her, Luna was the only one who wanted to be friends with her without being judgy. That's how they became besties. As they aged Ginny started to become though/ badass and she became very protective over Luna, who's more naive/ soft. She gets very upset when people bully Luna, specially because Luna was the only one being kind to her when everyone was being awful. Fun fact: many fans headcanon Luna as autistic because, well.... Shes a lot like us. 😆 there is another character like her but I'll talk about him when you get to Fantastic Beasts.

Dudley trying to explain the dementors (the feeling), and talks about how they were sucking out his happiness. This triggers Petunia to say she knows what the dementors are. There’s actually truth in the fact that Dudley knows it wasn’t Harry who did that to him. And it’s confirmed when Petunia says she knows about them.

This movie is a masterpiece. It’s not about a magic school and a hero vs a dark wizard anymore. It has politics and corruption, evil people who are not evil for the sake of being evil (like Voldemort) but rather to be a political tool, Umbridge and fudge for example. 5:50 So it's important to mention - in books Dudley doesn't see Dementors and doesn't really blame Harry fully. He is just really badly shaken (it is the worst feeling in your life and he was extremely close to getting the deadly kiss). Moreover - Harry explains that they were attacked by Dementors, which Petunia understands (her sister was a witch after all). Vernon is still pissed, because his son almost died, but then Dumbledore sends a letter reminding Petunia about his previous letter (the one he left with baby Harry years ago). This reminds her that by taking Harry in she promised to keep him safe. So she not only girl bossed Vernon at that moment, but also made Harry to stay in the house (he was also about to go on the run after he was told he is expelled and wanted). This was in fact a changing point between Dursleys and Harry - because he did save Big D. 9:25 She is a squib - kinda like Filch (the old caretaker with the cat). A person from magical family with no magic or limited magic (she actually could transfigure small items, like tea bags). 12:45 I really recommend Chanwills0 parodies after this. Even just in your free time. She is so funny and has Dumbledore say exactly that the whole time, when Umbridge stood up.

another fun fact: the scream Harry let out when Sirius died was muted because it was so powerful that Helena Boham Carter and Emma Watson were crying. The reason it was muted was because Daniel Radcliffe wasn't acting as the previous da, his grandfather had died and David Yates the director decided to mute the scream as it was powerful and loud.

This is my favourite HP movie period, since it first came out. Daniel Radcliffe's favourite too. Dumbledore is always rushed at the end of the movies. He knew Voldemort and Harry were linked, and remember Voldemort's greatest enemy is Dumbledore. Dumbledore feared Voldemort would use Harry - possess him - to get to Dumbledore, if he knew how close they were. That's why Dumbledore distanced himself.

11:50 I don’t know if anyone’s explained it yet, but the reason why Hermione paused here is because she was about to call Luna an insulting name. Luna is bullied at Hogwarts because of how odd she seems (probably partly due to her mother’s death) so people call her “Looney Lovegood” and steal her shoes as a way to insult her. Hermione was about to call her Looney but stopped herself after realizing Luna was right there. Also all the things Luna blames on the nargles are actually students just bullying her (stealing her things)
