Fun fact. The position of Dark Arts teacher is actually cursed. It’s not a spoiler because they don’t bring it up in the movies☺️ but in one og the books Dumbledore explains to Harry that Tom Riddle cursed the position after Dumbledore denied him the job because he wanted to do it. So that’s why they have new teacher every year because the curse makes sure no one can keep it for long. Just a little insight to book info that the movies never explained.❤ Love the reaction and looking forward to you watching no. 5. that is my favourite one I think

@user-de8mn5yu9q Well, I don't remember the exact dates but Voldy was older than 70 by this point and likely applied in his twenties or thirties. So it really has been a while. That said, I always felt like Lupin and Moody were excellent choices on Dumbledore's part. They'd have been perfect for the position, if it hadn't been for the curse.

JK Rowling has said in interview that the convention of the Dark Arts teacher never lasting was drawn from the example of Spinal Tap being unable to keep a drummer, because they kept dying in bizarre ways. Sometimes their drummer will simply blow up without and warning during concert performances.

He really ruined so much of translating this book into a movie because he didn't want to read the "big brick of a thing" that was the book. I never got why they made the other schools gender separate? In the books they’re both co-Ed and the Bauxbaton boys were hot. Also 100% agree Krum is a perfect gentleman. Isn’t it so sad that in the second task they kidnap the person who they treasure the most and for Krum it’s a girl he’s known for a few months.. like no other friends or family or long term relationships like the other champions? Krum is what the fandom _wishes_ Draco was. Rich, famous, tragically in love with Hermione, embroiled in dark magic, but in spite of that grows up kind-hearted and open-minded. We Stan.

I think the reason why Krum and Hermione were so close was because they were able to see eachother for who they truly were. I don't think it was ever anything completely romantic between them. Just really good friends. Krum was only sort after for his fame, being a professional Quittich player. And Hermione was only seen as this really intelligent girl who was unattainable or "hard to get". They saw eachother in a way no one else really cared to. The age gap was a bit much but at the same time, I'm really glad they stayed in touch and continued writing to eachother cause it was probably nice being truly seen

The reason Victor Krum invited Hermione was, unlike the other girls at the school, she wasn't constantly chasing after him or seeking his attention. He would find her on her own in the library and talk to her and they'd chat like any other students which he liked about her. So he asked her to the dance.

@swifties.for.evermore If you think about about it, it makes sense. Harry is 'The-Boy-Who-Lived' and so on, famous in the Wizarding World, yet Hermione knows he's just a flawed kid, just like her. She KNOWS how fickle the press and so on are in the Wizarding World. So why would she treat Victor like those same girls do? No, she'll treat him like a normal boy. At least until she is proven different. And we know how stubborn she is.

Actually and ironically ally, quite the opposite: Cedric wouldn't have died if he hadn't taken the cup. (Edit: sorry, wrote that comment before you figured that out) In the book the maze is actually filled with various creatures the contestants had to get past, so there was some skill involved at all. I'm glad you eventually realized it was David Tennant, I've seen quite a few reactors who did not.

Your Slytherin jumped OUT in this one! 😂 So ruthless! But yeah, Cedric would not have died if Harry hadn’t been chivalrous, and the guilt of that really eats into him over the next few films. Well, more so in the books but you can see it in the films on occasion too. Book note re: David Tennant’s character. It’s not explicitly stated in the film, but in the book it is - he’s actually part of the group, along with Bellatrix Lestrange (who we meet in the next one) and her husband, that tortured Neville’s parents into insanity using the Cruciatus curse. So his use of it in front of Neville was twisted and 100% deliberate.

You have to remember our Center-Trio is only 14 years old. In the previous term/film, they were 13 and puberty had hit Harry and Hermione. but not Ron as yet. Harry and Hermione had their irritable and surly moments and Hermione's feelings for Ron had begun to be expressed. Late-bloomer Ron is getting a much more intense crush of hormones in this film and is struggling with it. You can't really blame him all that much. So on top of the surly bitchiness of puberty hitting poor Ron, he's still dealing with feelings of inadequacy resulting from birth order and poverty. Ron's the youngest boy in a poor family; his clothes, school supplies, and even his wand were all hand-me-downs, secondhand, or marked-down goods. He gets most of things after passing through use by his five older brothers. Then he's friends with the FAMOUS Harry Potter, which he has to wonder why Harry tolerates him. So that hormone-driven depression is sitting heavily on him. All bad enough, but then he doesn't even understand his own feelings for Hermione. He's obviously jealous about her and Krum, but doesn't realize it. And it doesn't help that his Quidditch hero Krum has swept in and taken her away, like Ron never had a chance in the first place. He's having a moment of 'Everybody hates me, and I don't have a f**king chance'. It's just a really bad year for 14-year-old Ron. Cut him a break. The mean things in the water are grindylows; they're a type of water demon that try to drown people. I believe they so freak out or hamper Fleur that she can't make it to where the merpeople have her little sister tied up with the others. Harry didn't realize what the 'treasure' was that the merpeople had taken, so I'm guessing Fleur didn't know her little sister was down there until Krum and Cedric came back up, by which time it was too late. Luckily, Harry manages to get Fleur's sister while getting Ron. Then HARRY is attacked by the grindylows, which he stops using the same spell Hermione had used on the Cornish pixies in Gilderoy's class. By the way, if you look back at when Harry and crew first head through the World Quidditch Cup campground, before the game, there's a juggler juggling grindylow puppets that look just like the underwater attacks in the second Triwizard task. Absolutely LOVING the Brad Show presentation of these reactions. Seriously loving it. Ordinarily can't stand watching other reactors' reactions without binging the entire 8-film franchise in one sitting, except for yours, Brad. That says a lot about how delightful your reactions are.

Yeah, it's super sad. I do feel like maybe Neville's parent's do at least recognize him as being someone important though. In the books Neville went to visit his parents and his mom gives his a gum wrapper (which apparently she had done many times). I think that she's able to recognize that Neville is someone who is important to her even though she doesn't know who he is. I don't know why she's giving him gum wrappers but I think that it is her equivalent of saying that she loves and cares about him.

I always appreciate it when people acknowledge the stuff with JK Rowling. ❤ So many people have blithely ignored or attacked people who had issues with others continuing to buy and support all things Harry Potter. It does come down to personal choice, but publicly supporting something that is widely known to be controversial in one way or another DOES send a message, whether people want it to or not. It’s been fun revisiting some of these after feeling quite I’ll say unenthusiastic about them for a while. And yes this is one of my favorite of the Harry Potter books and films, if not my favorite over all. ☺️

Brad, one thing to remember going forward is any green lighted spell is an evil death spell and will kill a person if they don't block it. That's what Volde hit the man with in the beginning. 😘👍

This will always be my favorite movie in the series. The stakes are so high, the atmosphere is so dark, and the way how Voldemort's return is setup is so satisfying and sets the tone for the rest of the series. Edit: Also the way how Harry is so good-natured that he *insisted* Cedric grab the Cup at the same time......Only for his good-nature to be the "reason" Cedric dies, is just devastating and such good character development...You can *feel* how guilty Harry feels after he gets back to the stadium with Cedric's body. It is another reason why I love this movie so much compared to the rest. It shows how dark the world is getting in the series, and how even good actions can have dire consequences...again, the stakes are raised so much in this movie.

This is a movie only thing but if you go back and watch the ending of Chamber of Secrets, you might catch what spell Lucius was going to use on Harry :P

Ohmygod correct me if I'm wrong but I think everyone in the comments was collectively cringing when you show interest in Robert Pattinson because we know what's coming and you don't of course you know now he gets kill cursed and what bothers me the most is at his age you think he would know like to summon the cup and he and Harry could have gotten out of there but he was just thinking self-defense kind of things and it got him killed he is a Hufflepuff

I mean iirc they have a lot of Ron's best ideas and observations to Hermione in the movies. In the books he was an accidental genius half the time.

I absolutely LOVE Voldemort's design. He's right in between monster and human. It's a simple look (just no nose + no eyebrows) but still impossible to recreate in real life, which makes it even more iconic.

Good call Brad! The books go into it a little more, but basically Harry does poorly in the triwizard tournament and only really gets points due to his hero complex, which in the end led to Cedrics death

21:38 the way he tells him about the bathroom. Why so secretive? Its not like he is asking him out or something. It sounds like he will be in the bathroom too. Its weird. Just tell him.
