The reason you were so suprised that Harry likes Ginny is because it was extremely poorly developed in this films. In the books, Ginny is the baddast bitch ever. She is outgoing and popular, and everybody wants to be friends with her and all the boys want to date her. She is also a very powerful and skilled witch, which is why Slughorn invited her to the Slugclub. Ron and Hermione's romantic relationship is also not very well developed in the movies. The reason he doesn't see that she likes him is because he is extremely insecure and thinks she would obviously (in his mind) like Harry instead of him.

I'm sorry to say but the character is also acted pretty poorly, you can convey that sassy cool vibe and the actress falls flat imo. 😢 I hate to criticize the actress but she wasn't the right casting choice imo -- it's no one's fault, they had to cast her early at such a young age.

I love that entire sequence SO MUCH. When people say this is their least favourite film, I’m like the SpongeBob meme pointing out that sequence, the Dumble death scene, the wand raising scene… there is SO much to love about this film and the only thing people get annoyed by is the romance (which, yes, was handled poorly, but it’s realistic to include romance in a film about 16 year olds, come on).

Interesting little detail about why Hermione is suddenly bad at potions, which also feeds into how you could've figured out it was Snape: Snape always puts his potion recipes on the blackboard, while Slughorn goes strictly by the book. A detail about Snape being the half-blood prince that isn't explained as fully in the films, is that his mother was called Eileen Prince (Prince is her maiden name) and his father was a muggle. Hence, it makes sense why he's the half-blood prince.
@fawfulfan
@fawfulfan 4 ай бұрын
It also explains why Snape fell in with the blood-purity crowd and became a Death Eater. All the Muggles in his life during his formative years were horrible people. His father was a domestic abuser. Petunia was trying to keep Lily away from him out of jealousy of her sister. He'd have had every reason going into Hogwarts to hang out with the crowd who told him Muggles are scum and the wizarding world should remain pure and above them.

@@fawfulfan Yet Potter and Black were also pure-bloods (they were also little golden-boy shits) who took against both Severus AND Lily the first second they got on the train, but were worse to Sev. The truth involves assault, S.assault and attempted murder. (Potter fancied Lily when they were older, but that does not make it in any way acceptable). Slughorn messed up the house on purpose because if death eaters came looking for him they'd think he is dead/ ran away. Draco used "petrificus totalus" a spell that petrified Harry, that is why he couldn't move. Tom Riddle/ Voldemort is a extremely manipulative man. He knows that Slughorn is kinda "naive" and wouldn't think a 16 year old would kill someone. That's why he asked HIM questions and not someone like Dumbledore, who was already suspicious of him.

Voldemort's whole thing is hating muggles and halfbloods. That's why they're attacking. The brute looking guy at the beginning (the "scary bastard") is Fenrir Greyback. He's the werewolf that bit Lupin when he was a child in retaliation against his father saying all werewolves are soulless and deserving of death. Draco was forced into this because his father failed Voldemort the year before, broke the prophecy and was sent to Azkaban. Harry gave the twins his Triwizard Tournament winnings for their shop. Draco used the same spell to petrify Harry that Hermione did to Neville in the first movie. Your joking way of pronouncing Hermione is literally how I read it when I first started the books as a small child lol and none of the teachers I asked knew how to pronounce it either. The first bird, the white bird, died when Draco tried but there was a second bird in the cage, the black bird, so it can be assumed that he'd learned how to do it without killing the bird on his second try. Can't wait to see your reactions to the last two.

I'd have loved to see more from Draco in the movies. He's so lonely and yes, he's a piece of shit most of the time, but I feel so sorry for him. He has a horrible father, just like Billy in Stranger Things, and he grew up with that kind of people around, expecting so much from him to be "evil" like the bad guys. So yeah, it would have been better to have more development of his character. The scene in the bathroom makes me cry every time I see it because even if his is a coward you can feel him suffering, he doesn't want to be a twat, but he has too. In some way, I just love him, sorry not sorry. Draco just needs to be loved. I should read the books and see how he matures through them. Love from Spain❤❤❤❤

I think a lot of people have horrible childhoods, but I think after you cross a certain line I stop feeling bad. After 11, Draco spent more time at hogwarts than home. If he any inclination you change at the time, he had the resources. Let’s not forget the story gives us a character who’s race similarly, and turned out differently. Sirius Black. To be honest, I thought, feeling bad he should still be in Azkaban.

Petra DID say he's a huge POS, they are not excusing Draco or his past behavior. But in this instance/movie, I agree with feeling empathy for Draco: he so obviously does not want to kill Dumbledore and is only going through with it all (including the unintentional hurt to students) because he's been groomed, coerced and is under duress. I feel bad for him too.
@withxoutxlife

@@eamcbmsc Keep in mind he's still a child that was indoctrinated into thinking his bloodline and that of other purebloods is superior, thanks to his parents (mostly his father). He might be a little shit, but he was raised to be that way, and stuff like that isn't easy to just break away from. Just look at any kids that are forced into a specific mindset by their parents. Draco deserves some blame for not taking notice of how his actions negatively were affecting his classmates for the majority of the story, but when it came time for him to get his own hands dirty, you can see the toll it takes on him. Draco is not fundamentally a terrible person. His father warped him into being the way he is, and because of that I put most of the blame onto Lucius.

Just like Slughorn, Albus Dumbledore collects people. Only instead of focusing on those with influence, he looks to the outcasts. The expelled half-giant The young werewolf The repentant Death Eater He protects them and gives them a second chance. All he asks in return is their loyalty. And, if on occasion he requests that they undertake a certain task, invoking their debt of gratitude - well, that is no more than he is owed. He once thought to add a certain disowned Black to his collection, but quickly realised his mistake. Sinus is not an outcast, but a rebel. He knowingly chose his path, and chooses what price he is willing to pay for it. He refuses to be used. So Albus Dumbledore abandons him. Dumbledore knows Sirius' loyalty lies with Harry instead of him, and he has no use for someone who is not willing to follow his orders without question. Harry was an outcast due to a childhood filled with abuse and neglect. Vernon made him an outcast by dismissing his claims of magic, berating him, locking him in a CLOSET and putting bars on his window, and let's face it, even though her editor made her cut it out, Jo intended for there to be physical abuse. Petunia made him an outcast by enabling and contributing to this abuse, as well as making Harry do dozens of chores while doting on Dudley. Dudley made him an outcast by bullying him and threatening any students at school who wanted to be his friends. And the rest of the wizarding world made him an outcast when they bullied him for being an outsider. Harry James Potter became an outcast the moment he was placed with The Dursleys. And who put him there in the first place?

It's a sad truth that Dumbledore was never the heroic and caring father figure Harry wanted to see in him. That said, I can't blame Dumbledore for the choices he made. Certainly this collection of his started out with the best intentions. I fully believe that, at the core, Dumbledore was a good person with an infinitely caring heart. But he never let go of his ambitions "for the greater good". The meaning of the phrase simply shifted as he grew older and more detached from his old life. He lived long enough and grew powerful enough that he saw himself become a living legend. The Wizarding World had rested on his shoulders for such a long time, he probably couldn't imagine a world in which Voldemort was not his responsibility. Especially considering that he was the one who first introduced him into the Wizarding World. I think he fully believed himself the only person capable of orchestrating Voldemort's downfall and did everything in his power to make sure the prophecy would come true. No matter the cost. No matter the lives that he'd need to sacrifice for it.

When the book was released, I read it in two weeks that summer. There were two sequences that made me make audible sounds: the bathroom duel with Draco, and the Astronomy tower. When I finished the chapter where Dumbledore falls, I closed my book and left it for a day. Also, the earlier movies cut out details that were mentioned in the books because, at the time, they seemed to be throwaway lines that Rowling put in there. The 6th movie was released two years after the seventh book was out, and everyone realized that those details were missing. Like the slow relationship builds between Ginny and Harry and Ron and Hermione. There are some other ones that will be touched in movies 7 and 8 that I don't want to spoil for you. Another thing that makes fans mad to this day is that, for the first 5 movies, Lavender Brown was played by a POC girl. THEN, when she becomes important to the plot, she's suddenly recast by a white girl. Like....really?

heyyy so here are some explanations for stuff that isn't really clear in the movie: -during the lessons with Dumbledore, Harry goes through many more memories about Voldemort and we really get to learn his backstory. it's a bit long to write down here but if you want to look it up it's really interesting -also in the book we get to know a bit about Snape's backstory as well. he was born from a witch, Eileen Prince (from here he invents his nickname) and a violent and abusive muggle, Tobias Snape. therefore he's a halfblood, just like harry (who has a pure blood father and a mudblood mother, a witch whose parents are both muggles) and lord Voldemort himself (his mother was a witch from an ancient pureblood family who had a son with a muggle who she kept seduced with a love potion) I'm probably forgetting something, but still i hope it helps

One thing that is a bit of a shame is that they didn't include all of the memories that Dumbledore had about Voldemort. The ones that they didn't include are as follows; 1. A Ministry official visiting Voldemort's mother's family, the Gaunts, in their run down shack of a home, where you see that Voldemort's grandfather Marvolo (Voldemort's middle name) and his uncle Morfin are both crazed and inbred muggle haters who regularly speak to snakes, and that Voldemort's mother Merope was severely abused and that she ran away with a handsome Muggle man named Tom Riddle by bewitching him with a love potion. He later abandons her and she dies in the orphanage giving birth to Voldemort. 2. Voldemort at the age of 16 visiting his Uncle Morfin and framing him for the murders of Voldemort's muggle father and muggle grandparents that very night. (Their abandoned manor house is the one that Voldemort was hiding in at the beginning of Goblet of Fire, where he killed the old caretaker) 3. A young Voldemort in his 20's working at the dark wizard shop Borgin's and Burkes after Hogwarts, and while visiting a rich witch named Hepzibah Smith finding that she had a magical goblet that belonged to Helga Hufflepuff, as well as a locket that had belonged to Salazar Slytherin, an object that belonged to Voldemort's mother before she pawned it. That night, Hepzibah is killed by Voldemort by bewitching her house elf to poison her drink, and he steals the cup and locket. 4. Voldemort in the 60's, visiting Hogwarts to ask for a job as Defense Against the Darks Arts teacher, only for Dumbledore to suspect that Voldemort only wants the job to recruit followers. After rejecting Voldemort for the job, no teacher has lasted more than a year at the job, as it is now cursed out of spite by Voldemort's hand.

Fun fact Voldemort is also a half blood. Actually his father was a muggle and his mother a squib (so even if she was born from wizards she didn't have barely any magic)

His mother wasn't a squib, she was a witch. Also Squibs have no magic powers at all by definition, not "barely any".

The thing with Draco getting assigned to assassinate Dumbledore is actually a punishment from Voldemort to the Malfoys for Lucius fuckin up the job of getting him the prophecy in the last movie. Voldemort isnt stupid he's fully aware Draco isn't able to do that so its mental torture for him, and for his mother cause she's so affraid for her son

Not sure if there's a comment about it yet, but Snape is a half-blood you are correct. His mother's name was Eileen Prince and she was a witch and his fathers name was Tobias Snape and he was a muggle. Fun Fact, Voldemort is also a half-blood, which just feeds his hatred of literally everyone lol. There's a lot of parallels and comparisons among Harry, Voldemort and Snape.

Rip Dumble 😭💜 I love watching these with you! Voldemort does know that Snape is a half blood, and if you remember, Voldemort also told Harry that he himself is a half blood in the second movie! He changed his name from Tom Riddle to Voldemort because he didn’t want to keep his “filthy muggle fathers name” or something like that. Half bloods are not really looked down on too much, it’s really just the muggleborns that Voldy and his followers hate.

Yeah, in the film they’re making literal death but the book explains it’s a potion that puts the drinker into such a deep sleep that they appear to be dead (like the potion in Romeo and Juliet). I blame the screenwriter LOL!
