Great player at this level. Anyone questioning him only needs to look at this seasons results when he's played and those when he's not. I appreciate some questioning his injury record but he can't help getting a broken foot. He plays with 100% and passion. He often gets frustrated but he finds space really well and feeds others in lots. He's 1 in 4 scoring wise pretty much and has often been unlucky. He's needed a few games after his injuries to get going to top form but it was no coincidence our end of season run coincided with his return imo. Shame Alexander benched him for the Grimsby game otherwise I believe we'd be in the play offs. Always believed that there'd be a deal of some sort has he moved from Saltaire and bought a new house in Baildon.

Interesting fidnt know that knew he was looking but didnt know where or when absolutely agree that game V Barrow gilli played well but walkers intelligence off the ball is what we miss like you say he finds space where others can't

@raynersbantams yeh, he lived opposite Phillip, also known as Mathew, also his daughter is in the same class has my brother who sits next to Phillip. :)...

Yesssssssssss!!!!! Ok yes he’s injury prone but I’d rather have him lined up for us when fit than lined up against us

Totally agree...a fit JW is a big plus for the team and look forward to him doing his stuff next season 🤞🏻🐔🐓😍

Without J walker this season we freewheeled through games and improved upon his return absolute must

Definitely when you watch those big games with the rocking atmospheres JW always stands out need more of those players

Is it possible that he really did have meaningful conversations with Carlisle in order to gain some leverage in his contract negotiations with Bradford City?

Exactly! Given his injury history, it wouldn't be surprising if Bradford City had been lowballing him.

That’s an interesting one. I’m guessing it’s a 2 year deal they offered him on lower wages and different terms. Basically Walker gets the peace of mind having 2 years guaranteed vs downside of lower wages. Guessing he rejected that and opted to take his chances and the club agreed to extend for another year with him. Can’t see the club offering him 1 year on lower wages only to agree to renew for a year on his original contract as that would just smack of the club trying it on and amateurism. But on the other hand Ryan Sparks will have been involved so it’s possible I guess.

It is tbh dont think can knock club on trying it on when it's in your favour and with a character like Walker who seems relatively settled here dont think hes they type to refuse to play exciting to see what our attack can look like next season behind cook

@@raynersbantams once upon a time I’d have agreed with that. But when you try it on like that the right thing to do is not renew (this is based on a 1 year deal being offered not 2). I think they probably offered 2 anyway. But look at it this way, you want players to be loyal to you (so let’s say Walker goes on to have a great season) he’s going to think “this club tried to f me”. Why should I stay with them. Not only that, he talks to other players Halliday, Platt, Pointon, and they’re then probably knowing they could get more at another club, start asking are the club trying to f me as well. So in theory it’s a good idea but in practice it has other unforeseen consequences. If we have offered a 2 year deal. Or just released him if it was a 1 year deal. People can understand, ok they were serious he was on too much and needed to make room in the budget. The 2 year deal has the give and take of offering something in return. But you get a bad reputation pulling stunts like that and it puts off the decent players who want to feel looked after by a club, not have the club try to shaft them.

Rather have him than not. As people have already mentioned, we looked disjointed without at times last season. Might be time perhaps to use him more sparingly in games. let's be fair. When have you ever seen JW shirk a tackle, not chase a ball he thought he could get. Either start him and give 60-70 mins, or bring him on a 'super' sub with 30, to play. The midfield will be overloaded when we've signed Dan Kemp anyway.... 🤫

Absolutely with 5 subs no excuse not to and like you say we will be recruiting real quality in that area to bring on and rotate with him
