Thanks for checking out our Metallica reaction. King of Nothing is a very thought provoking song. It could be interpreted many different ways. If you know Metallica's meaning of this song, we'd love to hear it!

Now that you say that, I am noticing it more. It's almost like an inverted version of it. But that's basically the same guitar riff, ain't it?
@continentalaquatics2725
@continentalaquatics2725 3 жыл бұрын
@@reanimated It sounds like it’s in a higher key, but I don’t have a guitar with me at the moment. Here’s what it certainly has - a buildup Intro, a main riff, two verses, two choruses, a solo that begins and ends right where Sandman’s ended and then there’s a middle eight/bridge that launches the song back into the chorus. From there the guitar stands alone for a few bars as the bas and drums reenter in time just like Sandman. They do end differently though. Sandman fades out.

It was so different to their sound on the 1st 4 albums. If you took the best songs from Load (1996) & Re-Load (1997) you'd have a good album.

Woa woa woa... Enter Sandman and Creeping Death are completely two different points in Metallica's timeline. Creeping Death was off their 2nd album(1984). Enter Sandman is off their 5th (1991). Way way different tone and feeling. Enter Sandman is when people feel Metallica sold out. The first 3 albums they had no music videos. The 4th (In Justice for all) marked their first Video with "one". After that Metallica took a slow road down and many fans left (especially when they started making music videos with short hair and makeup on). These were the albums LOAD and RELOAD. As fans we are constantly hoping Metallica will return to its origins, but they are far to old to get that sound back. Though Metallica changed over the years, there are a lot of memories of the early days that were fantastic. True Metallica fans will listen to 1-4th album and stick their toe into the 5th. Thats pretty much were it ends for us.

I've always taken it as chasing after material things and fame at the expense of what really matters in life. "You point your finger, but there's no one around" because you've driven all your family and friends away. Yeah, you're rich and famous now, you're the king. But what do you really have? Nothing. Careful what you wish for.

King Nothing, Hero Of The Day, The House Jack Built, BLEEDING ME, Outlaw Torn, Mama Said, Wasting My Hate.... all great songs off from Load, released in 1995. This album showed some blues influences FOR SURE. Creeping Death was off Ride The Lightning, released in 1984... Enter Sandman was off "Metallica" (The Black Album), released in 1981.

Creeping Death, second album Ride the Lightning 1984. Enter Sandman, fifth album "Black Album" 1991. King Nothing, Sixth album Load 1996. So when you say "the same era" you are talking about a twelve year period.

So, you guys went from old Metallica to commercial Metallica, but kinda jumped over the Black album (besides Enter Sandman), which was their first and biggest commercial album. Nothing Else Matters, Unforgiven, Sad But True…the whole album’s great.

Funny thing is. James. The king of rock. Worth 500 mil. His wife aint all that(Lars has hot wives). She threatened to take the kids cuz of James drinking. He sobered up. But. And but. Dude is the king of his castle. His kids love him. He also wrote moth into flame about his addiction to fame itself and ego. Hes very humble. But. Used to getting everything for his hard work. Guy came from nothing. His parents both left. He is the alpha. Moral here is be accountable to those you love. Dude gets paid to be masculine. It pays well. He also helps millions of kids. He may have punched Lars and Dave and kicked a dog. Dissed Layne. But. Dude is real.

I know this video is 2 years old but supposedly those song was inspired by PanterA frontman Phil Anselmo. As a die hard pantera fan its hard to stomach but it makes total sense that Metallica wrote this about Phil Anselmo. Pantera was the biggest heavy band of the 90’s but metallica was king. Phil would rant and rave onstage about how metallica sold out and that panyera were the true kings of metal but during that era in the 90’s the scene was dying so thats were the inspiration supposedly drew from. Yeah youre the king bit the king of nothing. Make sense? I hope so. Sorry for the run on sentences i typed this in a rush. Be easy everyone

Are you just doing random Metallica songs now? A rather mediocre song imho. Have you done 'Turn the Page'? A cover, rather slow song, but powerful and i think Lex would enjoy the guitar. There still is 'Fight Fire with Fire' which is a very in-your-face metal song, there is a cool live from mexico city version here on youtube, all other live versions here have rather crappy sound.

Remember - this era for Metallica - is the era that hardcore thrash metal fans called them "sell-outs." Metallica was no longer a thrash metal band and instead made rock music. I love both eras. By the way - you haven't even heard their St. Anger album yet, which came after this era. It confused a lot of fans. They experimented with more contemporary sounds and it didn't go so well. Oh well, nobody bats a thousand. One last thing - my favorite song from this era is "The Memory Remains" which features the haunting backup vocals of Marianne Faithful - a British singer from the 60's. It has a similar theme as King Nothing. Hope you check it out sometime. Thanks for your reactions.

So many people hated this album, Load, because Metallica went away from thrash metal to hard rock…oh and they cut their hair🙄 But IMO, this is a great album. Different from earlier Metallica? Yes. But it still kicks ass🤘🏼

This entire album is criminally underrated. So many of the metal purists out there claim that this album is after Metallica‘s prime and I couldn’t disagree more. This album has so many certified bangers. This song in particular actually sounds like it could’ve been on the black album to me, it would’ve fit nicely there, and the black album is absolutely legendary.

It’s about having everything and realizing how bad that lifestyle is. It IS indeed about someone driven by wealth and greed and ego, BUT it isn’t about a shitty bossy dude. Basically: I have everything I wanted and wished for, but now I’m realizing that it’s not all what I expected.. I want more but can’t get it and I’m blaming you, you, and you for it. At least that’s my interpretation.
