Most pressures in the golf swing cannot be seen. Clothes hide our muscles and the way our body moves against the resistance of the ground is hard to determine. Greg Norman and many others showed us exactly how utilizing the right foot and ankle throughout the swing built a pressure that the pivot could rotate fast from... watch here and learn more at bradleyhughesgolf.com... Thank you so much for this. I've been working on my swing and trying not to release my right foot, but I hit so much better when I do.

Good stuff! Do you know why Mike Austin was so opposed to the bowling foot slide?

Hello seabas22. I saw a video that is still readily available on you tube nowdays, and, although I try to be upbeat about Mike Austin, I saw no reason why he goes so bad against the lesson with the pros when they would do that. He doesn't really say why, which is not good. He did that before the stroke. It wasn't the stroke, he did that a lot. Not good. Still wish he and Dunaway were still with us

@@vinsonshinabery9077 Thanks for the reply. Agree, I have not heard any real explanation from anyone as to why it would not be a natural move. Baseball hitters and pitchers do it and obviously bowlers do it which is an underhanded throw, like how Mike Austin describes the golf swing. Greg Norman's swing wasn't the same after he "fixed the foot slide".

Bradley is saying he isn’t giving up the trail foot pressure due to a thrust or a ‘push off’, like most people do. He’s keeping it,only to have the powerful pivot take it away. He’s not ‘shoving’ it all to his lead side. That shoving move while twisting is what screws with the spine, and Bradley isn’t doing that. He’s transferring torque correctly.

Bradley, I liked the swing at 4:09. It looks like you plant on the inside edge of the left foot as you start your downswing at 4:10:35 and then the weight transfers to the center of your left foot as your left knee and hip aligns over it just prior to impact at 4:10:51 and that left foot, knee, and hip stays stable well past impact. Your right foot also stays stable to well after impact before it slides so the golf ball is long gone when that happens. I can never keep my right foot on the ground at impact no matter how hard I push on it, twist it CW, twist it CCW, ER leg, IR leg, heel up in backswing, heel down in backswing, bend right leg in transition, maintain right leg bend in transition, align right knee and hip over right foot in the backswing, align left knee and hip over left foot in backswing, plant left foot at top of backswing, plant left foot at mid-downsing, extend upper body in backswing, forward lean upper body in downswing and then push on right foot as I extend my upper body again...have tried hundreds of combinations and my right foot never stays down like you are showing here. Never tried to plant the left foot and roll into the center of the left foot as the left knee and hip aligns over it like you are doing here so will give that a try. Do you think you have really strong feet and legs and that is why you can do it? Thanks, Rock

RockBurke my swing revolved around strong legs and extreme foot pressure because I had such a wide backswing and needed the support below to move my body well beyond impact to avoid excessive throw out that would occur with the wide backswing and the centrifugal forces it would create with the late load that eventuated as a result of that width
@RockBurke
@RockBurke 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Bradley, for the thoughtful response. Yeah, noticed the wide width on the backswing and the late load with your arm swing and that is why I deduced that you must have strong feet and legs to do that. The left leg is extremely stable through the hit which is the predominant thing that I noticed that was better than most. Looking good so keep your body strong and hit a lot of balls so you can keep doing it well.

Appreciate the search and the thought. But this has nothing to do with the right foot. It's the weight transfer going hard into the left side. My foot does same thing ever since I learnt to use lower body 2 yrs ago. I've got some videos on my channel

You are correct...if you look at Bradley s swing in slow mo he shifts laterally first then rotation...same thing with Snead squat if you break it down he moves laterally first then rotates

You guys obviously haven’t watched Bradley’s other, older, more in depth video about this “pressuring down the right leg” action. The move sets of a “biomechanical chain reaction” which results in the left hip and knee moving laterally and “opening.” You mention Sam Snead’s squat (which, incidentally, Bradley directly addresses in that video) and say he’s moving laterally. You’re not wrong, per se, yet you hold that out as if it negates Bradley’s point. Unfortunately, all it really does is illustrate your ignorance. Bradley consistently speaks to “opposing forces” in the golf swing, and how pressure in one direction (in this case down the right leg) creates an opposing force in the that works in the opposite direction. Snead’s pronounced squat is the result deep pressure down the right leg, and fabulously flexible hips. When one tries to make the lateral move of which you speak without the right leg pressure, they end up with their weight on their left foot too early, and (as Bradley explains) they lose the ability to sustain the pivot through the strike, cannot pin the shaft, lose control of the clubface, and must rely upon timing the hands to square the face. That’s not to say that one cannot play good golf with a lateral shift like you’re talking about, but Bradley’s teaching focuses on helping students maintain control of the clubface into and through the strike, not throwing it away and relying on timing. I’m not saying that you must swing that way, but your comment is ignorant.
