This is the greatest tip EVER. I have been suffering with a changed golf swing for twenty plus years. Yesterday I watched the video and immediately went to the driving range, The high 3 yard draw and 20 yards came back instantly. I cant wait for Saturday morning. Maybe , Ill be saved Eric N

I used to be around a 5 handicap 10 years ago, then started playing very sporadically since that time. I played an outing yesterday and was crossing my body like crazy. Then on the par 4 18th, I pulled my right foot back at address and hit both a solid drive down the center and a 2nd shot to within 15 inches of the cup. I had forgotten about this drill up to that point, but will never ever forget it again.

I took a couple of lessons from Rick Smith over 35 years ago, he is exceptional at analyzing someone’s swing and correcting a couple of things that will help everything. Unfortunately over the years I can’t swing hit the way I did back then ….but he is really good. I stood on the driving range at the Honda and watched Rocco hit ball after ball with a 7 iron perfect draw and it was obvious he had his right foot back on every shot. I’ve watched him on TV and he does the same thing, it looks effortless.

That’s amazing, why didn’t I know this before? I already pull my right foot back just a little when driving and my drives are very straight or a small draw. But my irons are weak and small fades. Tried this and immediately got much better contact, compression and distance. And I didn’t hit the ball far left as it felt like I might. This immediately added 20 yards to my eight iron. Thanks so much, I’ll definitely work on this.

Every new golfer needs to START with this drill. A year into golf and it’s changed my entire game. It’s the ONLY way for new golfers to feel what true compression and ball striking feels like. For me it fixed my weight not being far enough forward causing fat shots. That *click* is addictive.

@PerformanceGolfZone4 ай бұрын
That would be fun! Need to really make sure you get your trail shoulder FORWARD enough to get club path left enough to hit fade from here.....and of course make sure the club face stays slightly open to that path Right shoulder more forward, swing more left through the ball

I've only ever tried one gimmicky drill: left heel off the ground at address, which was an old Henry Cotton drill that Gary Player recommended. I was only doing it because I had a terrible left rib problem and was trying to take the strain off my left side. Really, i shouldn't have been practising. Needed an operation to have the rib removed. Anyway, David leadbetters old coach: Terry westbrook, suddenly pitched up behind me. He was pitching for a job with the national team and was with the boss of the team, who assumed the drill that I was doing was my actual method and considered me to be a good guinea pig to test terry out as a coach. Anyway he taught me the takeaway open sandwiches method: right palm facing the sky, half way back, which wasn't good. But, irony of all ironies I have actually incorporated it into my left hand extensor extension swing drill, in which I hold the club out to the left with my left hand; and, then press my left hand in front of the clubhead. This actually sets the club into motion, on its arc. I then put my right hand on the club as I swing back. But, I turn my right hand up to the sky as i swing my right arm back, to place my hand on the club. Obviously, my right palm isn't facing up to the sky when I place it on the club. The hand actually bounces back it into position, but in a deeper position. And, the deeper you swing back the more space you have in the downswing. But, I do think that it is a big mistake to actually try to approach the ball from the inside, in the trans- just as it is a big fault to try to swing around from the top. So this is the swing exercise, you need to do: when you get to the top of your backswing keep pushing back with your left wrist joint. This will increase the cupping of your left wrist and it will actually help to fuse your hands together. The left hand, in effect, will be pressing against your right hand. This will then enable you to start your downswing by pressing the index finger side of your left hand towards the thumb pad of your right hand.

@garrymajor752811 ай бұрын
Arms down is that a pulling down of the arms to start or are you shifting to left first and allowing the arms to drop down on the inside
