This channel is an excellent example of why you should never judge a book by its cover (not that Bradley Hall has a bad cover). I love watching the humor and raw talent displayed in these videos. I feel that people often take metal too seriously, so it's nice to see someone who knows the genre and how to play it well enough to make memes out of it. Well done, sir!

Venom: Basically invented 3 different types of metal (Black, Thrash, & Extreme metal). Yes, Venom created black metal not Bathory
@francescogiacovelli84683 жыл бұрын
@@leeeverett8497 first of all extreme metal is not a genre lol. Is just an etiquette that incorporates different metal genres, like black, death, thrash ecc. Than talking about the birth of thrash metal is way more complex. Venom were of course very important, but that was kind of a long process that involved many more bands, especially american ones, so they haven't invented thrash metal, they just put a brick. Concerning black metal on the other hand, sure they were fundamental there, but not the only ones. They pressed more on the accelerator and started adopting satanic imagery, but still the first wave of black metal is different from what black metal has become. They lacked the dark, creepy atmosphere, had still a lot of NWOBHM/Iron Maiden sound. Go and fucking listen to In nomine Sathanas by Bathory. That's a first bite of total evil and darkness. Venom were just kinda using satanism to look like the "bad guys", nothing new with metal, just a bit more extreme. So you can't forget about Bathory and Celtic Frost when talking about the birth of black metal. So we can say that Venom contributed to create 2 genres, while Bathory contributed to one and fucking created another ALL by themselves.
@vanukas22293 жыл бұрын
@@francescogiacovelli8468 back in 82 when Black metal came out, there were no other bands that sounded like venom. Venom decided to call their style "black metal". Tell me how that is not inventing a genre?
@francescogiacovelli84683 жыл бұрын
@@vanukas2229 read more carefully. I've actually said that Venom contributed to create black metal, they were just not the only ones. They were the first to call it black metal, ok, but still that was not yet that different from thrash/speed metal. For sure what we refer as black metal nowadays is a genre that fully developed in the 90s. The first wave of black metal in the 80s was its embryonic phase and Venom were not its only protagonists. They put the speed and the imagery, Bathory the actual atmosphere, Celtic Frost a mix of the two, and then only in the 90s, thanks to the 80s american death metal influences, bands like Mayhem, Darkthrone, Burzum, Satyricon and many others actually defined one for all the canons of the genre. So yeah Venom were fundamental to create the genre, but they were not alone.

Ironically, my favorite Nightwish song is probably the least metal and the least symphonic, but The Islander just totally captivates me in a way no other song in their catalouge can. And considering how tremendous the rest of their discography is, that's saying something

Most songs were picked very well, though I don't understand pick out the bone. The album wasn't bad, but they have much more iconic stuff. Sure, it's been covered before, but there would've been better choices still

I think that particular riff is very cool. It is so refreshing to hear something else played than Master of Puppets, One or something else written in the 80's/ 1991

You are now my go to cheer me up KZbin channel. Liked and Subscribed. I may even try a few metal riffs in between my usual Johnny Marr, Maurice Deebank sweet, jangle, jangle. Top man 🎸👍
