These are great tips. My friends 13yo daughter is battling cancer. We bought her a bunch of fun color wigs for those days she doesn't want to rock her beautiful bald self. She hated how some of the wigs really looked fake. So these tips are perfect. We are going to have a wig styling party this weekend. Love your videos. They always make me smile. Ĺ

You can make it ook even more natural by soaking it in fabric softener overnight then rinsing it with cold water, it will make it softer and take away some of the shiny plastic look to it. Makes it smell really good too. You can also rub a little bit of either talc or flour through the wig then shake out the excess to make it look less shiny. This is what a lot a cosplayers do when they can't afford super fancy wigs but still want them to look as realistic as possible.

Johnson's baby powder *had*? asbestos all up in it. Fyi. Ok edit: apparently the deal is that they are facing heat over their powder containing it in the past for a very long time, even though the company was aware of that fact, and the harmful nature of it. My bad, don't think it has it now. ✌️

For brushing wigs I recommend using wide tooth combs because brushing wigs with normal brushes **sometimes** ruins the wig but the wide teeth comb well it just goes with it ok 👍🏽 and it helps de-tangling tangled wigs (I’m Not good at explaining things-) and usually you would have to seperate (like when you braid hair you seperate hair) and then brush the wigs from the bottom then eventually go to the top.

Brad, I'm a professional stylist and I take care of a lot of my clients wigs and extentions, natural and synthetic hair. I have done this for well over 35 years. So, believe me when I say this; never do you ever use a hot iron on a synthetic hair wig!!! Just like when you steamed it to put in a part and to straighten it out, you also put in what ever rolling device(magnetic rollers preferably) in whatever size you desire then steam. You then allow to sit and dry for at least four to eight hours. I always let mine sit overnight or for a few days, then I'd fix it a day or two before my client was to pick it up. The same thing goes for synthetic extensions. The wigs and extensions will look better and last so much longer, waves will look much better and there's no risk of melting. I hope this helps. Also, use a styrofoam head and T- pins to hold in rollers. That way there's no roller-pin marks!! BONUS!!

It’s not the curls themselves, it’s the heat. A synthetic wig is plastic and because of that the iron only ended up melting the plastic. It looked good before the curls because the color wasn’t as dull due to the plastic not being melted. This is a theory btw, not fact, so take it with a grain of salt lol. Why do I always see Brad brushing long hair straight from the top down??! I'm no professional, but I have had long hair for most of my life and one of the very first things I was taught about taking good care of my hair was to start from the ends and work your way up. If your hair has *any* tangles in it and you start brushing from the very top, you're going to end up pulling those tangles all the way through your hair, ripping and breaking it as you go, and end up with super premature split ends and overall damaged hair. EDIT: I love Brad and his channel. This is just an observation and not an attack on him personally. Don't come for me. EDIT #2: Yes, I am aware that it's a synthetic wig (duh!). However, I have seen him (as well as a number of other hair stylists both on and off YT) do the exact same thing in other videos on wigs made of real hair and on actual people.

I have long hair and almost every damn time I go to a hair dresser (that has short hair) they do this! And I hate it so much! I agree. I've tried curling before and what I notice is that synthetic wigs melt. The steamer was a bright idea, but when he was with the curling iron i was like, "OH NO"!. Still a very cool video and ill probably use the steamer.

This video is quality info but I'm still laughing over the fact that until recently my most expensive wig was 26 dollars and I angsted over whether to spend that much XD

I'm watching this because I bought a wig for $300 and was dissapointed with it so now trying to find ways to better it and make it worth it.🤣😩

@escapee85986 жыл бұрын
@@sarahheller8725 no, baby hair is just fine and short hair along the hairline. damaged hair is damaged hair, or breakage hair.

I'm doing a project, I need cheap & easy. This helped tremendously and I had some serious flashbacks to 1998 when I had a 18th century wig so I could go as Marie Antoinette for Halloween and I sat powdering my wig as my grandma looked on in dismay AND interest.

Think because he used such a big heat it just melted it rather than styling, it looked so much better before!

the curls made it look so bad

Agreed
@tiffanyp76706 жыл бұрын
he didn't do it right. for synthetic hair he should have dampened the hair just a little and leave the heat for about 15 seconds. when you take it off the iron, hold it in your hand for about 5-10 seconds, so the curl doesn't fall. THEN leave the curl alone to cool/set.
