The easiest explanation for toner versus dye is this: Dye will shift the color of your hair up or down (lighter or darker), while toner will shift the existing color along the spectrum right to left (warmer or cooler). Hope this helps someone who may not still understand.

I watched this after getting highlights and I now understand why my hairdresser gave me something I didn't think I asked for... I wanted partial saturation balayage and for it to be cute and subtle natural tones (I literally showed her the exact photo Brad used for partial saturation on the left) but instead she gave me large sliced highlights up to my roots in a platinum ash tone. I left the salon in tears because the difference was a lot harsher than I wanted.

It's absolutely phenomenal, you leave it on for a few minutes, it gets warm whilst it's activating, and when you rinse it out follow up with a leave in conditioner, use anything that gives you moisture, also in-between that, use something like aphogee protein treatment, because your hair needs a balance of both moisture and protein, if you have more of one or the other, then your hair goes extremely dry and knotted, these products should definitely help x 😀

I seriously need Brad to save my hair! I was in a bad car wreck two years ago in Oct 2017. & this wreck took my ability to walk for two years(still not fully walking with out assistance or I am in my wheel chair.) Was supposed to lose my leg and I have had 25 plus surgeries/procedures to get my leg to be saved. Lost my entire ankle joint and 2 inches of my tibia! Now that back story is out there. My hair is DEFINITELY showing the medical/medications/anesthesia/ect that I have had administered to me! The trauma made hair fall out right after my wreck. & when I was in the wreck I have Looooong beautiful, naturally curly, bright Red hair. I went to get the red out because I couldn’t afford to keep up with it after not being able to work anymore- due to losing my ability to walk. So.. needless to say. It has been bleached, stripped, bleached some more, toned, I had a Malibu done as well. Now, I have light orange, brown, blonde, blue, silver, golden blonde, ect in my hair. My roots are the darkest blonde and the lightest brown you can have, almost a mouse brown with streaks of all these colors I recently listed! I seriously need help.. I lost so much hair already from this entire process. I know it takes forever and many processes to get Red out. But, in all seriousness. Can we make appointments with you? Ugh. Hellllpppp me. 😩

BRAD THANK YOU FOR CALLING IT A ROOT SHADOW AND NOT A SHADOW ROOT! 1. Babylights are the biggest waste of time and usually cause breakage when doing a retouch as its impossible to follow the lines. 2. Balayage means "sweeping" derived from the verb "balayer" which means to sweep. 3. Hairpainting is the way to go and much less time consuming. Check out the whittemore House in NYC were the first hairpainters and invented the root shadow back in 2006.

If I’m not mistaken, the same procedures apply, just with curly hair, you’d start with straightening it first

Erin Moore that makes absolutely 0 sense. It wouldn’t look the same curly as it would straight. And not every curly person wants their hair straight.

I just got my hair done and I wish I would’ve seen this before. I asked for something and my stylist didn’t understand and I got something totally different.
@oliviavizza87314 жыл бұрын
My hair stylist combines a bunch of baby-lights, then sat.balayage, and then a shadow root. My natural hair color is a very dark cool brown, which I don’t love, but I go a long time between coloring my hair, so I like it to grow out looking as natural as possible (hence using a shadow). I end up with a lovely sandy beige “BRONDE”, so shimmery and lovely! (My profile photo is not a reference, that was a bright yellow blonde I had years ago).

I wish I had seen this video before I went to the hairdressers! I asked for a subtle balayage on my naturally dark hair and came out the salon with big, brassy highlights and yellow-ish pieces all over 🙈 THIS is why we go to box dyes...because at least it’s cheaper if we screw up 🙃

Same thing happened to me! moreover, i wanted balayage as i heard its needs less maintenance . However, my hair are so tangled all the time. And falling out even after I combed it multiple times which never happened to me before Balyage. I am just waiting to grow out the bleached hair and have my old natural hair back. Anyone faced tangled hair? What did you do? I really need to know!
@gocowboys514112 жыл бұрын
@@amansrankhangura after getting what you got done did you use purple shampoo? It is a must after trying to go blonde. I went with a friend and got one and I have medium a little on the darker side brown hair. The first time they got it pretty light but yes, it had yellow patches. I never experienced some excess tangles in my hair but you do have the occasional 5 hairs that might come out in the shower which always happened to me... I had to go a second time to get it touched up and blonder. Well, they got it blonde. Now I want blonde hilights in the middle of my hair all of the way up to the top but it's going to come out yellowish I'm sure and the bottoms will be that platinum that I achieved on my ends! My friend convinced me to go again on the 16th😒 and I'm going to see what they say. I don't know how they will make it blend in. Salons are so expensive for nothing!

@@gocowboys51411 How did your hair appointment go? Did you get what you wanted?
@gocowboys51411 Жыл бұрын
@@henrysmith180 NO! Salons are so quick to say oh, I don't want to damage your hair.. you shouldn't go any lighter. I said cut my hair an inch and I'm out of here. I got my friend to bleach it and we started at the bottom instead of the top and biiiiggg mistake. Since the brown was mostly on the top of my head we should have started there but we did the bottoms and she rushed the top. By the time we got to the left part of the top my underneath was about to fall out! Lmao it's not to bad but from now on a salon won't do it and no more bleach for me. My ends were literally falling off and I was screaming. Thats when I went for a cut 😆😅🤣

Tip: if you have VERY fine porous hair, for some reason, they absorb the toner even if it is a lighter color. Tested on myself. You basically can color your brown hair almost blond with just a toner. Go toner and don't bleach (if not for highlights).
@ellen5276 Жыл бұрын
I love my fine porous hair for this reason - it takes dye and toner so easily. I have lots of grey and it is zero issue to cover it and keep it covered! But on the other hand.. if a hairdresser who doesn't understand it gets near it that "light brown" hairdye ends up black on my hair.
