I’m loving this 90’s almost grunge/almost boy band hybrid kinda hair Brad’s rocking right now. Like, I’m normally focused on his pretty blue eyes but his hair is a thing right now and I’m loving it. Always entertaining, still the nicest beauty guru on KZbin ❤️ P.S. My parents wouldn’t let me get foil highlights as a 13 year old so a cap style sun glitz was my first professional color service - it was awesome. Everyone else in school who had a sun glitz looked nothing like mine but that caps not touching my head again.

@@Liz.8711 what's the olaplex professional one called exactly??? I want to get it soon🕵🔜🤔
@Liz.87112 жыл бұрын
@@richiethev4623 that person was using Olaplex Bond Multiplier No.1, which is what your stylist would mix into the bleach or hair color to help prevent breakage due to chemical damage. It’s supposed to only be available to be purchased by licensed professionals, but obviously there are those who sell it on the internet to anyone (most likely a pro who is purchasing the product at the hair supply store and reselling it to others… this is called diversion and is extremely frowned upon). It’s a great product though. Be careful where you get it from and be prepared to pay a good bit for it. The traveling stylist kit (comes with a 3.3 fl oz bottle of No.1 and two 3.3 fl oz bottles of No.2 which is applied after shampooing out the bleach/color) costs professionals $65, and No.1 is not sold by itself to professionals (only way to get it is in the kit), so in order for the seller to make any kind of profit, they’d have to sell each item at a pretty high price.
@ContentMadame2 жыл бұрын
@@Liz.8711 Word. Also worth noting is that any "super bargain" prices on this or any other luxury product is almost certainly because they're counterfeit. Amazon, Ebay, Wish, etc. have had a real problem with keeping scammers off of their platforms, and health & beauty products are some of the offenders. Hell, I got a bag of fake, Chinese "cosmetic grade" beeswax pellets recently that made me SO MAD! Definitely not what it said it was, and so the DIY lotions I made with it came out grainy and awful. Buyers beware if you're buying online, even from large retailers.

I used to want highlights, and about thirty years ago, I got them...but the maintenance was crazy. Every time I went to the salon for a touchup she turned more and more hair blonde (I was a natural brunette). So even in the salon, it can go massively wrong. By the way, now I have easy-peasy highlights! I have turned my salt-n-pepper into brown hair with highlights in one step by using an ash blonde demi-permanent; colors the white blonde and ever-so-slightly lifts the dark brown.

I had a match teacher who had gorgeous graying hair. She once went to a salon asking to cover her grays. The stylist refused. Saying that she gets women (specifically aging ones) who come in asking for their hair to look as good as hers does naturally. She instead gave her a cut and style that made her hair look even better. I love the way the last girls actually turned out. I hope that kind of become a style.

I started getting grey when I was a freshman in high school. I dyed it until it started growing in evenly. At that point, I figured 1) my OCD wasn't so triggered by the patchy skunk stripes and 2) people pay good money to go grey these days. :D I get more compliments on my naturally greying hair than I ever did with my natural or dyed brown hair.

Aww, that's awesome! Brad can't remember that even he has had good results with cap highlights lol, he used it on Miss Mannequin and even he liked how it came out despite himself. The downsides of caps is it's hard to control placement, but most people only notice bad placement if it's near the root (particularly at the front of your head - money pieces with a cap can be unpredictable), or if the contrast between the light and dark pieces is very high. If you're only lifting a few levels, a cap can make for nice highlights I think, as long as you pull out the right amount of hair.

Brad I know you're a professional and great at what you do... But my mom and I have used highlighting caps for 30 years, and it has always looked beautiful!! I went to a hairdresser one time at an incredibly upscale, expensive and highly recommended salon, and the girl asked me what salon I had gone to before because my highlights were gorgeous. She about fell over when I told her that I do it at home with a cap. The thing is, it takes a lot of practice, and maybe that's why mine has always looked so good. I can understand a first time user having it turn out not so great. The other trick is, is that you never pull yourself, you get another person who is familiar and really good at it pull for you. My mom and I can pull an entire head, every single hole (not that we do a lot of pulling every hole) in 15 minutes or less. So again with practice and and getting past the learning curve, cap highlights can be amazing!!! BTW I don't have it anymore, but my profile picture with my hair purple is all thanks to you... The first girl was wearing the cap upside down! But the colour she ended up with was so much better than the way she started. I did cap highlights on my mousy hair for years and it was great. Every once in a while (every 5 years ish) I would have foils done professionally, but I did a better job on my own. It is possible. A lot depends on the colour of your hair to begin.

I’ve done this twice and both times it’s turned out BEAUTIFUL. Tips: - use the small hook on the crochet hook, - Be very careful when pulling hair out to make sure it is all the way out doesn’t create a loop - Make your bleach mix thick so it doesn’t run down the hair into the cap holes causing a spotty mess - don’t apply bleach directly on the cap as the bleach can seep through the holes and create splotchy spots - keep the cap on when rinsing the bleach out and keep it on when you are applying your toner

It works it just requires 3+ hours pulling and the arm cramps are the worst. As long as you don't put bleach on top through the holes

@@juliannehannes11 agreed, hate the arm cramps, it's more work for those with more hair

If you do it properly it works really well, I’ve done them on myself many times over the years. Just wish they’d remember to rinse and put conditioner on before they take the caps off! Their poor hair!🙈🤣xxx

I really enjoyed having some Brad Mondo to watch this morning. Put a smile on my face! Also I'm totally down for grey highlights to be the next trend. I have got greys coming in and trying to think of them some kind of highlight because I am less than impressed to be this grey in my 20s 😂

Brad: “highlights is something that you can't always do at home as they require a lot of skill” Me: “guess my hair is staying the same..”

I do my own highlights for 6 years now and it's not that hard. My arms do hurt a lot the next day though 😅
