I didn’t take it as “ugly” I thought he meant stick to your own style instead of trying to be “classic”. I agree with him. I love seeing people who were goths in the nineties and punks in the seventies and what they wore on their wedding day. My mum and aunts and uncles all got married in the sixties and seventies and I love seeing their fashion on their big day - fashion was so fun back in the day. My mum wore a silver crochet minidress! She looked cool as f#ck! 😂😂😂

An ugly one 😅 you can rock your style and still be gorgeous and stunning maybe not timeless but gorgeous and stunning nonetheless. He's not looking for any of that, he said he wants something that would go viral and that he can laugh at, that is an ugly bride I'm sorry idc 🤣🤣🤣

DONT take as much hair as the first girl did! For the hime part you want to take a triangular hair section like normal bangs. Don't bring the section all the way to the ear, it's too much hair. So if you already have straight bangs which were cut with a triangle section, isolate that section and take a little bit of hair to make that triangle wider, like 1.5cm/1 inch at each side max. It's always easier to take more hair after the initial cut. If it's still not enough hair, make the triangle section slightly bigger by going higher towards the crown! Small steps!

This look is so popular here in Japan right now especially amongst middle and high schoolers. It is also usually straightened it perfectly and the front pieces that I see are thinner and the whole cut is not really layered. It's often mixed with the Korean trend thin bangs. I wish my hair obeyed an iron like that.

The hime haircut is very hard to pull off. I've seen a lot of people irl attempt it and 9 out of 10, they always end up looking like a hot mess. Its one of those styles that look awesome in anime, cosplay, or in a doll, but doesn't translate that well irl.

Every "stupid" looking Style that isn't flattering to the natural human shape only looks good on people who are a) high class (rich) and b) really confident. And the "Home/jellyfish/stair" Style is like the buffon or Liberty spikes a "stupid" style. The egyptian did it, the menoans did it, the aztecs and the the Chinese (i think han?) did it. We as humans are a surprisingly reppetivte species. Every once in a while the weird styles come back and everyone is acting like it is the new shit when people did it 5000 years ago.

I think it's just a style that is very particular based off how your hair naturally lays, shape of the face, health of the hair, And most importantly how they style it after. Most people would likely have to style their hair after to make it look good and have it look good with their outfit. Most people's probably cut too much hair, cut it uneven, and didn't bother trying to look good in after styling. Those princesses likely didn't just roll out of bed and have already preexisting damaged hair from previous bleachings. They had healthy virgin hair and had to look always done up and prestine. Everything adds up on a haircut that stands out bluntly, so everything wrong with your hair will stand out too.
@hyldrklein451

@@CallMeGameGirl Back in the day, that hairstyle is like a status symbol, it wasn't really worn for fashion so we will never know if they ever really looked good on them by today's standards. And its not just the hair type, it only suits very specific face shapes and proportions. Even for an asian like myself, it wouldn't suit me at all unless I try extra hard with my make-up.

I feel like a hime cut is almost universally flattering, as long as you cut it for the face that will be wearing it. - It can be worn with or without bangs, or with different syles of bangs - It can be cut so the short pieces sit further apart or closer together, which can either open up a face or narrow the shape of a wide face (if thats what you're going for) - The angle of the face-framing pieces can be changed to suit your cheekbones and jawline - If you look better with short hair, you can have the illusion of short hair without losing length in the back; and if you look better with long hair, then you can keep the length but still have a shape that creates interest

I've been trimming my own bangs for a long time, and did the hime cut from like 2018-2022, and now my "hime bangs" on the sides lean more towards curtain bangs. There was one time in 2021 I went to get a trim because the rest of my hair was pretty long (grew it from 2016 just above my shoulders to my butt by 2021) and the hair stylist seemed baffled as to why I cut my hair like that lol. I was also 50lbs heavier back then and it worked really well to thin my face out.

A lot of characters in Anime have the Hime haircut, and it’s usually female characters that are princess…ish? The only two characters I can think of off the top of my head is the snake queen from One Piece and a centaur literally named Hime (well, Himeno) from A Centaur’s Life. Anime is life and it’s so fun to try and copy the characters. If anyone wants some good recommendations I got a long list of great ones to introduce you to the world of Anime.

the hime haircut seems inspired by specific anime girls from 2012 or something? like, girls from mangas to fit ig the trend at the time, like in Junji Ito's works, his most famous character (one of them) Tomie had a similar cut. A lot of the stoic, quiet, smart, and cold girls, or the blunt and stoic, badass yet motherly type girl, or the stoic and mysterious, eerie yet seductive kind of girls (usually with long black hair, or ghostly white hair, def blonde at times) in anime have always had a Hime cut fr, as like a tradition or trend for that kind of character. They're usually quite affluent and wealthy, powerful, or well-respected and desired, and are seen as untouchable. The term "hime" immediately reminded me of those kinds of girls, and not even for the cut; I don't know why, it just did. Obviously, real Japanese girls have had that hairstyle, I'm sure it has a historical background. I've just seen it in anime and it got popular in Western audiences due to anime, manga, and/or or J-Pop. Idk, as someone who grew up on anime and manga, the Hime cut is reminiscent of the types of hair cuts I'd see on those girls.

@@OhhOk nothing is new anymore, but things become famous that were more uncommon for all the time they existed. This one is just more surprising than the ten thousandths long bob that comes back with a new name. And 20 years is long nowadays for a trend to come back

I used to have bangs in 2020 and have been growing them since. So I parted my hair in the middle and I didn't want to go as short as the original hime-cut, but I cut the pieces straight (they're under my chin now). At first I thought, it looks wierd, but I have rather thin hair and the pieces fit to my face, so yeah I'm pretty happy with it :)

Traditionally it was an old Japanese culture called the heian period. Where women would cut their hair at the fringe grow that out then cut the fringe again and grow it out and get a fridge again. This is typically why it’s called the princess hime. Due to the type of women that were having the hair cuts ❤ one of my favourite haircuts

I let my husband TRIM a couple inches off my hair a few weeks ago.. to kinda bring up the length to my longest layer in the front... and uhhh, yeah all of a sudden I had this haircut 😂 idk how but I ended up with a nice straight chop on the side of my face 😂😂😂 So I guess I'm in style with this ridiculous DIY husband at home haircut 😂😂😂 Hard pass. Trust me it's not cute!🤣🤣🤣

@@sharonharris9782 yeah lmao he did NOT follow very simple instructions. I'll admit he has done a good job in the past, perhaps I just got very lucky.. but idk wtf he did to me this time. I looked in the mirror and was just dumbfounded. I have nooo idea how the front side of my hair even got involved with a trim in the back🤔. I simply starred wondering what I could possibly do to help the situation.. and I came up with nothing. Gotta let that shit grow out for the next 6 months to a year 😂 I can finally laugh about it now.. but I was not happy. Lol

I gave myself the same haircut a few months ago. I cut a bigger section in the front, just because i heard it's best if you have thinner hair. One of the section is a bit wonky because it took me 45 minutes to do all of it and i was not wearing glasses, so i messed up a bit lol. Considerations: i love the haircut whenever i straighten my hair, but otherwise is not that cute on me. I have wavy hair that i never style properly, so the front sections always end up half straight and half curly. However, I'm again in my "straight hair" era, so i often keep it straight now and i enjoy my cut a bit more!

Probably because it's not a cultural haircut that was punished and segregated by white people through cruel torture and dehumanizing slavery? Idk, you'll have to ask a Japanese person.
