Listening to more of their songs, AJR are far more suited to making hip hop beats for other people to rap on than trying to turn those beats into full pop songs on their own. When the drum loop is in and they’ve got their samples in there it can work, but I think how they choose to expand on it leading to a chorus or their verses and stuff just almost never works for me personally.

I like 3 o'clock things only cause it shows his inner thoughts at 3 o'clock which is when your brain just thinks of the most random things (it happens to me at least). It's not supposed to flow like you're saying, it's supposed to flow like random thoughts that kinda relate to each other and derive from other thoughts.

You should react to 16/04/16 by cavetown. It's one of my favorite albums of all time. I don't if it's necessarily something you'd be into but the genre is kind of pop-rock/alternative/indie rock/trap. I don't really know how to explain it but it's a pretty sick album. Cavetown's newer stuff is more indie acoustic/bedroom pop but a lot of his earlier stuff is more pop-rock type stuff.

@@toontales2479 he is though, the overproduction, the tacky samples and voice filters, the questionable lyrics, the lack of originality. Plus he was saying that he thinks this is probably their best work yet, he just still had many problems with it. There is no such thing is an objective view on music but at the same time he isn't just blindly trashing them and not giving the music a chance. I mean there are parts that he likes. Plus it's not just unbiased criticism, it's entertainment and presentation. Presenting requires personality and if he was to talk in the most neutral way about it would kill his personality. Even the projects he loves he shits all over and basically flat out insults parts he doesn't like. I think people just get too easily hurt by hearing brash, unfiltered, played up opinions.

A bit less known, and from the earlier 2000’s, but I’ve enjoyed the work they’ve done. If you do check them out be sure to also look into the album Hawaii part II. It was made later on by a few of the members from the original band.

just to address the simularity in the way less sad and bummeland melodies, the album has a motif, which is a melody played throughout different peices in different ways, so its intentional, and is usually what orchestras do, like how the avengers theme plays in every movie but is different but with that same melody

im going to be honest no other music gets me angry like ajr's. i feel they rely too much on trendy production to fix bad musicianship. the result lacks a strong musical foundation and a cohesive aesthetic to their sound. it's like they want to do all of the styles that have been popular within the past decade without considering their sonic compatibility and write lyrics that both clearly describe how they're feeling without going too far into artful songwriting.
@mikafizz10223 жыл бұрын
I do not understand why people like you are like this. People make things to improve. People make things to fail. Success comes from failure and creativity is unlimited. Why tear down what other people love and appreciate?? I just really wanna understand how this makes you angry.

@@mikafizz1022 for me personally their music is flat out uncomfortable to listen to. half of the time im not sure what im supposed to be feeling or understanding from the music itself, and how it sounds does not make me want to find out. i cant pinpoint exactly why other than every facet (lyrics, composition, production) is underdeveloped. i wish i could give you a more satisfying answer than that but thats how i feel
