I agree with you, Brad regarding lining Flair's pond. He could always put some sand in the bottom of the pond for some greenery to grow as well as some logs for fish to hide in. If the liner is thick enough for the hooks not to rip it, then I think it's a great idea. I love the idea of having a pond that you can actually swim in. Even if there is vegetation growing, and fish swimming in it, you can still get your paddle board out there or swim in it (though with a pool, you may not need it for that). I like the idea of the shack seeming like it's floating, but it would also look really nice to have a nice wide deck around it out over the water. He will want a boat ramp so he can get his small fishing boats out there, I know. The concrete work and the pavers around the pool are coming along great. I hope he and Macy get Brooklyn out there to put her hand print in there (right next to your footprint, haha). As for that patch of ground between the pool deck and the house where he's putting concrete, he should definitely color it. He should look into acid staining it. It would look amazing! Have a great week Brad! Heather🇨🇦

I would prepare the pond for retaining walls before adding the liner. Using retaining wall inside the pond is a good alt for big boulders it allows you to incorporate hard scape and it would be a lot simpler to fold the liner between the block and the soil. I would use the big boulders too and smaller stones to fill in gaps and for the base

the house and driveway look awesome cant wait to see what everything looks like with all the landscaping done. As for the pond, i am 100% in agreement with you. He should definitely get the pond liner. Yes it is going to be a massive expense, but I don't think he should rush it. He should just wait, until its something he can fit within his budget and do it right. That pond is going to be a very big point of interest on his property, it will draw a lot of attention and massively increase the value of the home. And if done right, could become an incredibly beautiful oasis. Have you seen Shaq's new pond? That thing is a masterpiece. Though it did cost half a million. As for the fishing shack, I love the idea of something that looks old with a boardwalk that leads out over the lake, obviously want to leave room for boats and such, but that would give it a great aesthetic.

I'm not sure I'd go with a liner for a fishing pond. I'd be concerned it won't allow for a good bioactive environment. Frogs need to bury themselves in the much to hibernate and lots of aquatic insects need to burrow in the muck too. Eventually you might get a good muck layer on top of the liner but critters and plants might have a harder time getting the depth they need.

Also, with this day and age of everything being delivered to peoples houses. Instead of going to the store. When you make your driveway, make sure that you have someway for the delivery driver, FedEx, UPS, and whoever. To get into your driveway and out. FedEx alone has a 150 pound weight limit. Which means that anything that’s 150 pounds or less has to be delivered by the ground delivery driver. Not freight. So it would be cool, during the planning phases. If possible, consider, their egress also.

@pontiacwolf
@pontiacwolf 11 ай бұрын
@@BradtheBuilder in most cases, at least when I worked for FedEx. The same driver always delivers to your area. You will get to know and trust them. I actually had not only peoples access codes to gates. I also had their code to their keypad for their garage door. I sat their package inside their garage many times. Also with technology. I am able to give my delivery drivers a unique code so that they can open my garage door. Then once they do it actually let me know that that code was used. Then I can look on my video camera to verify it and make sure that the door shut properly. I’m not sure if LiftMaster, my garage door brand, has the same thing for their gate. They actually have the myQ Smart home system. You may check to see if there brand of gate motors works the same way as the side mounted garage door opener I have. Or I also delivered to people that had dogs inside their gated property. With these people they just left an all weather boxright at the gate that I could set packages in.

Sometimes we get it right on the first time if we use a big truck to drive, but then we want to make sure it’s right once the forms are set and drive it again… So sometimes we move them once maybe twice

They do some stupid things too so their not just woried about a hook. They have boats and one propeller hittthe liner is bad news. Plus they want to put a dock so it would have to float if he had a liner. Id look for clay on one of his properties and clay it all then bentonite the dam side adding a deep layer in the middle with several feet of clay covering the middle connecting section.

Any chance, Chad the Dirt Guy isn't the guy to hire to build your pond? Right now he's 1 for 3 which is only acceptable in MLB.

Basic common sense….measure twice cut once. In this case you dig some test holes. Get the excavator out and dig some swimming pool size holes, pack them with soil, clay and bentonite …..(like Flair Said, like a cookie) ….fill them and see what holds water.

Ya but they didn't do that with any of the ponds they've built and only 0ne out of three has held water.

Why use a liner? Why not just truck in a ton of clay mix and use the rain water run off to keep it filled? Its gotta be way cheaper too.

A liner is NOT the way to go on a pond the size of Flairs. He will be bringing boats in and out of it, putting cover for fish on top (ie: trees, brush, and concrete rubble), and otherwise end up being very rough on the material. Within no time there will be a tear in the liner and it will be a complete nightmare trying to drain the pond to find where it is, fixing it, and then filling it back up. He needs to do it properly by resurfacing it with clay and bentonite.

Why is Flair installing a pool liner? IMO it's inferior to a gunite/plastering a pool. It cheapens the look of the property/pool.

@@BradtheBuilder Sad!!! Everything in the house looked 1st class until I saw the liner. Tell Flair in my mind he blew it. I don't know exactly what type or material they use out there, maybe they use a better vinyl than I've seen out west. If not he should expect to have many leaks! @Brad The liner for Flair is not worth it. If you plan to have it as a pool its also not ideal because its easily punctured. For a pool, a concrete liner is best. Flair wants to save money so the clay is the way. When I use to help build exotic animal enclosures we went all out with concrete and than used the epoxy pool paints in certain situations. Not all of them just because it does get slippery for animals.
