Is it worth Remapping a 2.0 TDI? I got the Audi Mapped to clear any faults and to get it to a power/eco map, It is roughly performing at 190/200 BHP, with an increase in MPG figures.

Ripped the DPF out of mine, remapped it to 210bhp and the power kicks in very low down. It's surprisingly quick off the mark and torque feels amazing. Spins up a lot in the wet but on a dry day I can boot it everywhere and it doesn't miss a beat! Just have to know someone with an MOT garage who's willing to fiddle the emissions test for you haha

@@joshdeath2457 I’m in Ireland so went with a local guy who gets his maps from a tuning company based in the UK. I paid €250 for the tune. No other work done to the car in relation to dpf/egr. All done through OBD port. The power went from 175 to 225bhp and the torque up to 450nm (can’t recall what torque was). I’ve definitely gotten 10% fuel economy improvement. Quicker acceleration and overall smoother drive. Well worth doing (once it’s a trusted tuner) and I’ll definitely be getting my next and subsequent cars mapped.

I only got the map past the missus once I mentioned fuel economy... 😂 Other than that if I spent more on the car for power mods I’d be living in the car instead. The guy I got to do my car lives 40+ miles from where I am. Initially the car felt the same but as the miles went on it was more responsive. I went to overtake a car and put the foot down as normal. It was like the Millennium falcon going into hyperdrive compared to the stock map. You get used to it quickly but it’s definitely worth it. If I could improve it more I’d love to but with a wife, 2 kids, 2 cars and a mortgage you get what you get and appreciate what you have...😉

I'm on a mission. I bought a 120k 2006 B7 S-Line 170 TDI with full S-Line suspension from a Romanian plasterer last July for £300. He had it "stored" on an industrial estate in Blackburn for five months and previously used it as a work van and apparently for dealing drugs, as he happily pointed at the dents on the offside wing and bonnet caused by a baseball bat, he claimed. We towed it to get it running and gave it a blast. The turbo boost cut off at 2700 rpm but it wasn't showing signs of turbo wear. I'd also checked the MOT history and it had never had an advisory, never mind a failed test until he bought it. It was once a good car with a charmed life, so I bought it and I've done 2500 miles in it so far. The turbo hiccup cleared itself after a couple of weeks. I obviously had to buy a new battery and I changed the oil, oil filter and fuel filter when I bought it. I love it so much that I'm looking to buy a B8 and get it sorted like yours.

It had a stage one and 300k km's on clock but I'd say it probably has at least half a million (Balkan things) and the car never had any issues with the engine. Fuel consumption was low, didn't burn oil. I drove it over 100k km's with regular 10k oil and filters change. Stage 2 map is a different thing though, the engine isn't made to handle that much of boost and turbo will have more issues with stage 2 than stage 1. Great for everyday and i have no issues overtaking or cruising to work . I dont have a tow bar yet but i bet with the extra torque it will pull weight nicely. That combined with the fact its a 4x4 make me feel very steady and confident on these rough and bendy irish roads 👌would like more of a stage one tune to get around 180hp but i would hate to put more strain on the engine . Maybe if i get a bigger turbo and upgrade a few bits first. I've already put about 6000 miles since on the car lol . I love it , turbo Diesel is the way to go fuck electric. @underwaterdick
@underwaterdick 2 жыл бұрын
@@MrTopielec really, it's just a stage 1 and stage 2. Stage 1 is basically a settings change in a standard car. Adapting air/fuel ratios, timings, egr cycles etc. Stage 2 is where you start fitting non standard parts and changing the settings to suit those parts. The reason some say stage 3/4 etc is because they are meant to happen as you modify your car further. They will be highly customised and require live tweaking. Really though, if you took a standard car, fitted lots of non standard parts, you would jump straight to a "stage 2" although it would be somebody else's 3 or 4 for example. Stages also help tuning firms fire realistic prices and service estimates to potential customers. A 1 for stock. A 2 for performance exhaust, air system. A 3 for upgraded injectors or performance turbo. A 4 for a completely rebuilt engine, custom turbo, other electronic control systems.

Did a custom remap on 2018 A4 Avant 2.0 TDI (150HP model - actual 160HP at the front wheels) last year. The car still sounds normal (kept the idle rev limiter). Kept the torque to 410Nm (was 320Nm) as the clutch is rated to only 420Nm. Power at the front wheels is now 180HP (estimated to be about 210HP at the crank). Fuel efficiency is about 10% better and can pull smoothly in fourth gear from 35kph (was 55kph) and in sixth gear from about 65kph. V-max was a real 205kph (way less than Audi claim), now a real 225kph (indicated 235kph) - tyres were Continental EcoComfort 225R17-50. No additional tyre wear seen since custom remap. Pre-custom tune (standard tune) resulted in 190HP and 445Nm at the front wheels - custom tune made it 'drivable' across the entire rev range.

Yes. With the correct derestriction-removals..i.e. DPF/EGR and an economical-map/or "ECO-Map", can see an decent/average say 170 bhp engine, sensibly mapped to around 228bhp averaging a good 50+ break more, with the extra torque to go with it. Then just beef the diff up, to plant that extra torque to the floor and eliminate the dreaded torque-steer and spin....The engine-fault-code will continue until the DPF is "actually" removed. Thats the idea with them being fitted, so the computer fucks up the performance, limp-mode etc....The map will then sort out the computer problem(s)....My mate had an Audi 2.0 TDI..he had a boost-leak problem. Upgrade your boost-hose to a silicone one. I had an Astra-SRI-TDI-Xpack. It had been DPF/EGR removed and mapped, and with or without the "sport-mode" on, mate..it shifted....:)....

Be aware of those siemens injectors on your pd170. Very prone to issues. Find out if they replaced under warranty for the revised ones (still not solid ones like bosch injectors, but they do hold up better then the original ones). Had loads of issues with mine, swapped injectors 3times under warranty. And with all honesty, if nothing is happening before 2000rpm, something's not right. That bv43 turbo spools pretty quick, although I mapped it (myself and not in a car park) I have full boost at 1950rpm
@JMRaceWorks
@JMRaceWorks 3 жыл бұрын
Check with the dealership, the injectors should have been swapped under warranty by now, but if not, have them do it. And be aware of the "labor costs" that they sometimes try to charge, there is a warranty call for the injectors, airbag module and some other stuff I don't remember, so it's 100% free of charge. Other thing that curses those BRD engines is the oil pump. It's just terribly unreliable. Keep a close eye to the oil pressure, if it drops, time to swap the pump. It's a gearbox out job just to remove the sump... and do go for the 2000£ same shitty and expensive pump, use the one from the 1.9tdi pd130, super easy to install and no more oil pressure issues ever again.

Is it worth remapping? Technically yes. BUT THERE is more Is it Street-legal (depends very much on where you drive your car) If it is street-legal did you get it insured? (in germany almost 50% of the insurance companies do not insure power modified cars evenif they are street-legal) If you get it insured usually to very high increases on an already in comparison expensive insurance. Usually it is much cheaper to buy the highest motorization instead of buying a weaker one and to remap it. In the past (times of the 1Z or AFN) it was different, usually you just have to put the remap to the papers inform your insurance company and everything was fine without any increase in your insurance. But this times are gone since years.

Its literally impossible to increase the power and increase the mpg, you can't get somethingfrom nothing, to get more power out you have to put more energy in(fuel). I've been told this by more than one remapper before. Anyone who tells you otherwise is lying. You're mpg increased because it was already waaayyyy down from normal because of the dpf code it caused it to constantly do a forced regen which means the computer tells the engine to use way more diesel than normal to help burn the soot out of the dpf. If you had compared your mpg from say a year ago to now you'd find you're getting worse mpg with the remap. Every remap I've ever got done has ALWAYS had a negative effect on the mpg, and half of them were mild remapps like the one you got done here.
@underwaterdick
@underwaterdick 2 жыл бұрын
Well, you have said what many don't want to hear. A big issue that I used to see in my car days was that people would neglect their car. So the EGR and inlet manifold would be clogged for example, fuel filter old and air filter aged. Maybe other engine related faults. When they remapped the car, it brought it back up to stock power levels, usually just by overfuelling. So many people I know had very smokey diesels and said "it's because its remapped". Then I would show them mine, decent stage one map, clean inlet manifold, regular filter changes, deleted EGR, and it wouldn't smoke at all and would out perform theirs slightly on the road. The car definitely needs to have some mechanical love before anybody considers a remap. Oh, and being prepared for a new clutch and flywheel is always handy 🤣 Especially in the higher mileage diesels where the DMF is probably already on its way out.
@robertcook2572
@robertcook2572 Жыл бұрын
Nonsense. Just because you increase the maximum available power, and, therefore, fueling doesn't mean that you use it all the time. If the torque increases at any given revs then acceleration will improve with no effect on fuel consumption. To achieve similar acceleration to before the remap, less throttle will be needed and therefore fuel consumption will decrease.

@oldgreggscreamybaileys6618

@@BWTV Threat? Calm down mate. it’s obviously deleted unless you can describe how you managed to ‘clean’ the DPF. You also deleted the EGR which is an offence under the Road vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations (Regulation 61a(3))1 to use a vehicle which has been modified in such a way that it no longer complies with the air pollutant emissions standards it was designed to meet. So again that’s a £1000 fine, hence when a reputable garage offers this service it’s for ‘off road use only’. No need to get offended mate, I’m just stating that they’re cracking down on this massively and you putting it on YT isn’t the brightest idea. They will also not even look to see the innards of the DPF, as soon as they see it’s been cut and welded that means it’s been tampered with and yeah £1000 fine minimum. The gains you would get from an EGR/DPF delete are not worth it at all. If you really want that just get a 2009 anything as DPF was only mandatory in 2010 onwards, some registered 2010’s also are not required by law to have one as they were made in 2009 but registered in 2010. Nothing to do with high performance diesels like you thought is to do with euro emissions regulations.
@BWTV
@BWTV 3 жыл бұрын
I never ever claimed to remove the DPF for performance gains, and your contradicting yourself as my Audi is 2007 so I assume it's not "mandatory" to have one. DPFS are removed mainly to stop the future problems that are caused because of them, people don't want to have to spend hundreds on getting a new dpf every whatsoever mileage. I don't doubt they're cracking down on it, but your comment came across as if you're trying to scare me into deleting the work I've put into making these videos. However, like I said, my car is 2007 and my previous car with almost the exact same engine (from 2008) did not have a DPF installed (from factory). So if there was to be a problem, and dpfs are not mandatory until 2009, why should I have to put up with the hassle it causes 🤷
@oldgreggscreamybaileys6618
@oldgreggscreamybaileys6618 3 жыл бұрын
@@BWTV DPF’s should not cause you problems if you regen them properly. I’m not saying I’m a fan of them I’m just saying it’s against the law to remover them so maybe not put it out there for everyone to see. They can be expensive to replace but so can lots of parts for a vehicle. Euro 5 exhaust emissions legislation introduced in 2009 to help lower car CO2 emissions effectively made DPFs mandatory. You can still get vehicles with them on before that date but they was not mandatory, you have to look at the codes in the service book to see if a vehicle came with one, I believe VAG vehicles would be code 0GG if they do not have one. If your vehicle has one from factory it’s illegal to remove them regardless. Soon over here in the U.K. it’ll be like how it is in OZ where they pull you over and look under your car to see if it’s been tampered with or deleted and it’s an on the spot fine. The market for pre DPF vehicles has boomed for the reason you mentioned people don’t want to spend money replacing them. Again though if you regen them properly they shouldn’t be much of a problem. My point was literally it’s not a smart move to make a video about your daily driver and how it’s had an EGR delete and DPF Delete ‘clean’
